Well, I'm at a crossroads now. I was hoping that one of the DE's would be off the board to help me decide, but that isn't the case. I'm looking at either Maybin, Brown, or Ayers.

Since we've lost Olshansky at DE, San Diego needs a bigger body to fill the DE spot in a 3-4.

San Diego selects DE Robert Ayers, Tennessee.

I PMed weis.

denver picks michael johnson, defensive end, georgia tech.

I'd rather have Cutler. :)

Hmmm...I took Harvin as my homer pick last draft but I have my doubts he can stay healthy.

Apparently TB needs help on the defensive side pretty badly as well. I'll switch it up and go:

Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss

Ok, no Cro Magnon for a dozen hours or so, so I guess I'll make the pick here.

With no franchise QB sitting around waiting to be chosen here, the Lions instead choose to go with a franchise MLB.

So, with the 20th pick, the Lions select ILB Rey Maualuga from USC.

Truffle and Philly are now on the clock. I'll PM him.

Mark sanchez QB, USC

I think if Sanchez lasts this long, the Jets would be absolutely ecstatic. He's quite possibly the best QB in this draft, and that is huge question mark for this team.

They definitely will be thrilled if he's there (which I think he will be), but I still think Stafford is the best QB in the draft.

Neither is an elite prospect (Peyton Manning, etc), though.

i'm fine with Mauluga, but i prefer the original draft at this point, where i was able to get Peria Jerry and Michael Johnson with #2 & 3. i still like Andre Smith anyways

I think the Lions would do well to start the draft with Stafford, take whoever remains of Oher/Britton at 20 and then take the best defensive player on the board (Laurinaitis, Ziggy Hood, etc would all be options) with the first pick of the second round.

That gets franchise QB and franchise LT solved, plus it gives defensive help immediately.

Sanchez will go top 7. If he gets past Seattle, someone will trade up (Denver, Tampa). Sanchez isn't an elite prospect, but I expect him to have a better career than Stafford. Reminds me a lot of Aaron Rodgers.

I wouldn't trade up to get either top QB in this draft - unless it was a Brady Quinn type situation with one of them falling to the bottom of the first round and I was still getting a steal. Of course, that doesn't mean a team won't do it.

I don't think it's necessarily a certainty that the Broncos would have an interest in Sanchez, especially if the reports are true that they demanded Orton to to make the Cutler deal happen and that McDaniels really likes him.

The Bucs could trade up, but I wonder if they have some real interest in Josh Freeman. I keep hearing they do and numerous mock drafts have them taking him and that makes me wonder.

Understandable, and I'd have to agree. Which makes me wonder why you think Detroit would do well to take Stafford 1st over all. I don't see that working out well for them.

The only reasons he's considered potential 1st material are because he is a QB and Detroit needs a QB. It's not because he's clearly the best draft prospect.

I think Detroit would do well taking him because he's the best QB prospect in the draft (in my opinion), Detroit desperately needs a QB and I think he's worth the first round pick. I don't think he's worth trading 3-4 picks and paying top 5 money to. There are better values in the draft for teams slotted lower, but since Detroit has the pick and won't be able to trade out of it, I think taking Stafford is their best choice. The ideal move would likely be to trade out of the first pick, but since it's so unlikely that Detroit can do it, I'd go Stafford.

Plus, the dropoff from Jason Smith to Eben Britton or Michael Oher is far less, I think, than the dropoff from Stafford/Sanchez to Josh Freeman or the QBs in the later rounds. That's why I think Detroit would do well to go QB, OT, defense in its first three picks instead of OT first pick.

i think there are two really good picks here, brandon pettigrew and knowshon moreno. they've both slipped from what i can tell, and are both good fits for the eagles offense. i think it's a little easier to find RB talent than TE talent, so i'll pick brandon pettigrew, TE, oklahoma st.

So, last time I went with a CB, which is a need. I'll go different this time. The Vikes lost out on a big name WR this offseason and will clearly look for one in the first round if someone is available. One is, and they are known to like him, so:

With the 22nd pick, the Minnesota Vikings select Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

The Patriots have two fantastic values to choose from here that fit a need perfectly for them. They decide to go with the slightly better value, however.

So, with the 23rd pick in the draft, the Patriots select OLB/DE Everette Brown from Florida State. Brown is probably a top 15 talent at absolute worst and likely is good enough for top 10. Combined with Jerod Mayo this will be a lethal LB duo for years to come.

Vanilla Ice and the Falcons are now on the clock. I PMd him.
