And of those 996 major league at bats over half of them came at the ripe ages of 22 and 23 when he was rushed onto the Major league team.

His OBP is .301 since the age of 24.

You can make all the excuses you want. The man has proven he cannot hit major-league pitching with any remotely acceptable level of skill. Few, if any, people who hit like he has ever turn into acceptable hitters.

So you just completely ignore what hes done in the minors, and think he cant do even half of that at the major league level?

Which part of the minors counts?

His entire minor league career, or 600 PAs spread across sporadic playing time in two seasons?

I'm guessing you *only* want to count when he was good?

PECOTA projects a significantly higher EQA for Cedeno than Miles this year.

ZIPS has Miles and Cedeno at identical .304 wOBA this year.

CHONE projects a .310 wOBA for Miles and a .308 for Cedeno.

When accounting for defense, it's certainly not unreasonable to argue that Cedeno will be the better player this year. And Cedeno doesn't cost $5 million.

At any rate, it's pretty stupid to spend a lot of money on a replacement-level bench player. Miles can play a lot of positions, but none of them well. He's the Scrappy White Gremlin.

It's like Hendry relapsed this offseason.

pretty sure i've mentioned this before, but cotts sucks and i hate him.

Too bad Lou doesn't

lou doesn't really have a choice. the next option for a lefthanded pitcher beyond cotts is j.r. mathes or the wrong papelbon.

Not a bad job, gotta feel sorry for him. Back to the Future was the [expletive] back in the day

I could watch all 3 Back to the Futures over and over again. I never get tired of those movies.

Jason Freaking Marquis. UGH Our offense has now been shut down by such great pitchers as Braden Looper and Jason Marquis.

Wow Miles you knocked the [expletive] out of that one you worthless bum

Jason Waddell demands recognition!

Also, we have some decent lefties in AA who might be ready come mid-summer.

Good job Miles. Now be sure not to be followed when you collect your salary from LaRussa at the designated drop point.

FREAKING BUM!

Gotta tip your cap to Marquis....he's a first half pitcher and he's done a great job against the Cubs today.

I'm not tipping my cap to Marquis, man.

I have just been lurking here at work, but does anyone take into account that DeRosa is not only starting for the Indians but hitting like .150 as a starting 3B for $4.75 million. It's not like they are getting a whole lot of value out of that trade right now either.

Not that I wouldn't want to still have him, but is it possible we sold high for once? I mean we'd be tearing Aram a new one if he was hitting .150 with like 1 RBI.

Screw tipping your cap to him. The Cubs have had a terrible approach all day, and have let him off the hook a few times.

This is better than he's currently doing

I'm pretty sure Derosa won't hit .150 all season.

It's great to sell high, but you're supposed to get something back in return.

The Cubs are putting together some weak at-bats against a lame and notoriously wild pitcher

Though we have 2 of our best hitters out, there isn't much life in this lineup right now

yeah i would've understood the trade a lot more if they'd gotten something more than 3 marginal prospects. derosa had good value at his salary and the indians basically took a dump in a paper bag and gave it to the cubs.

We got three players who are in the minors for Mark DeRosa ... we didn't exactly sell high.
