cedeno/miles argument aside, today's lineup is why i think the derosa trade was a bad idea. i'm all for getting fontenot more ABs, but i'd sure as hell rather have derosa in the lineup than aaron miles or reed johnson versus RHP.

Coudnt that be a little better if Lou would just play Hoff against the RHP instead of Reed?

Marquis hitting his spots and it is the 6th inning.

He obviously wants to prove the Cubs wrong for trading him. If you ask me he should thank the Cubs and in particular Hendry for giving him that stupid contract and feeding his family so well for 3 years in the first place.

Im late to the party. Whats the deal with Harden? Thats an ridiculous line.

Looked great and was hitting his spots, but for whatever reason, the Rockies were able to sit on their pitches and make Harden pay.

he had 4 walks in 3 innings, i wouldn't call that "hitting his spots" unless he was trying to throw a lot of balls.

depends on how much defense you're willing to sacrifice in the outfield.

I don't even care if Miles is a better hitter than Cedeno, I still hate him and think he's awful on this club.

Cedeno is garbage with an upside.

Miles is just plain garbage.

Upside? Yeah right. I thought the kid had potential but he's proven to be a miserable hitter. I hate Miles but I'm also glad Cedeno is gone.

Considering his age, his tools, and his positive production (albeit in limited circumstances), he still has a ceiling. His likelihood of reaching that ceiling is fairly low, but that likelihood still exists.

Oh God its gas can Cotts. Get someone else up because he wont finish this inning

Cotts is another garbage player and put him in the same tier as Aaron firckin' Miles.

If we have to have a worhtless player on the team, Id just assume he be making league minumum and not on a 2 year 5 million dollar deal.

He was throwing the changeup right where he normally does and gets swinging strikes. Rockies hitters just laid off it somehow today, which is why Brenly thinks he was tipping his pitches.

RELEASE COTTS!

With Harden on the mound Id think OF defense should be of less priority

I guess I would just rather have had a decent utility infielder instead of Miles or Cedeno. Instead we got crap for tons of gold. And we have to watch it all year long. Miles taking ABs away from better players is going to be a sore spot on the North Side for a long, long time.

This move sucked hard.

Ceiling or not the guy sucked for us. The Cubs didn't have the patience to keep him around.

Something that hasn't been mentioned...

Cedeno was dumb as a box of rocks as far as "baseball smarts" goes. He really made a lot of head scratching moves on the basepaths and defensively. Dude got thrown out on a walk.

He also had a dumb manager, whos team regularly made head scratching moves on the basepaths and defensively.

Well no question, but I'm not talking about he attempted a steal when he shouldn't have. He made a lot of stupid plays that the manager had nothing to do with.

That's true, but Theriot has made a lot of [expletive] moves as well, but those were "gutsy".

The biggest one against Cedeno was sliding past the bag on ball 4. But that was more weird than stupid.

That's of course the most memorable. But there was a lot more than that. I can't make an argument about Theriot vs Cedeno in a competition of stupidity on the baseball field, mainly because it's been long enough that I don't remember most of them. But I was a guy that was rooting for Cedeno to do well, and he just kept letting mental lapses get in the way.

brenly thinks everyone is tipping their pitches when they have a bad day.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather not have Cedeno back and I think retaining DeRosa would have been the right move for the Cubs. But, I'm just setting the record straight re: Miles versus Cedeno.
