Wings/Ducks not on TV this Sunday. There is no other games going on at the same time...this is kind of odd. NBC is carrying a big golf tourney, but what else could Versus be showing? Bull riding

The game will be broadcast on multiple networks:

 

TSN (HD),RDS (HD),NHLN-US,FS-W (HD),FS-D (HD)

 

That means it will be availabe on Center Ice like all other playoff games that have not been Versus or NBC games (which, strangely enough, has been a lot of Boston games). But it will also be available on NHL Network, which has got to be available on just about every system that provides Versus.

 

That is not to say the NHL has done a good job televising games. ESPN would be most convenient, since it's everywhere, including every hotel and bar. But the game is definitely on television and available to most anybody that would want to watch it.

Caps 3rd goal was like from bizarro world. Short handed, looked like they were on PP, Cap player just skating around knocking every Penguin he could find over, Goal is scored.

 

I wish I would have had the guts to pick Carolina over Boston. Carolina is going to make the cup finals

A lot of discussion on Hockey Boards about Ovechkins hit on Gonchar. Most everywhere outside of Pittsburgh it seems only the Ovechkin haters are calling for his suspension. Personally I dont think the refs got the call right last night(should have been a major) but it is not worth a suspension. I do wonder what would happen if Chris Pronger did the same knee to knee on Nick Lidstrom? My guess is he would get suspended.

Pittsburgh is only been slightly better defensively. It is entertaining hockey to the casual fan, unfortunately for the NHL it will not win any Stanley Cups. I have a hard time seeing either of these teams beating Carolina or Boston. I am wrong quite often though.

Pronger has a longer history of dirty hits, so probably. I think it was also worthy of a major and no suspension.

 

Gonchar didn't just go into the zone unchecked, Jurcina screened his own goalie in the process. Terrible. Pittsburgh is at least somewhat sound in their own end. They're prone to breakdowns on transition but they block shots pretty well. (I think Darryl Reaugh said it best, "Pittsburgh and Washington have a totally different level of committment when it comes to blocking shots.") Varlamov finally was shaky, but he still made some big saves to keep them in it. The breakdowns are what really sealed their fate.

Ehhhhhhh, I don't think it was intentional. They were going to the same place and collided. Ovie didn't even line it up for a knee to knee; it just looked like Gonchar's leg was way the heck out and Ovie skated right into it.
