if the cubs miss the playoffs hopefully they just tank so lou will hang it up. he is atrocious.

excellent bullpen management again tonight, lou

Admittedly, Lou has looked senile at times, but what the [expletive] was he supposed to do tonight ? Guzman/Marmol/Gregg. Smardzjia blows, Heilman is worse, and Grabow pitched the 6th.

Gregg's the closer and tonight he threw bp fastballs. That's what you get from Kevin Gregg once every 7 or 8 times out.

He could stop bringing in Samardzija, for one thing. Shark is the worst reliever in the pen and by bringing him in it allowed the Marlins to immediately get right back in the game.

Shark's almost certainly going back to Iowa on Tuesday when Gorz is called up. The only other choice would be Stevens, and he's clearly outpitched Shark.

If anyone other than Shark goes down, I will be both shocked and appalled. Shark has done nothing to prove he belongs in the major leagues this season, and Id rather have Berg, Ryan, Gaub, or Parker up than him.

Before I forget, WHY DO YOU SAC BUNT WITH MILTON BRADLEY?

Was that actually a sacrifice or was Milton outthinking himself and trying to get a bunt hit like Koyie did last night?

I think players like to bunt to improve the team chances to win, even if the manager don't call for a bunt.

That is one contradicting sentence there.

Using Heilman in the 7th with a 1-run lead. Good job, Lou.

Seriously, is he brain-dead?

who was a more viable option?

Marshall?Guzman?Stevens?

if you say so. Heilman sucks, but it's not like Lou has a pen of lights out middle relievers

Mashall has been lights out in the pen. Guzman has been damn near lights out in the pen. And from what little we have seen of Stevens, hes shown hes got better stuff than Aaron [expletive] Heilman. We have seen enough of Heilman this year to know he [expletive] blows. Its Bob Howry all over again this year, Lou just keep throwing him out there, regardless of the results.

Stevens is an unknown commodity, and if you pitch Guzman, who pitches the 8th?

And Heilman has proven that he sucks

How about one of the other pitchers that is better than Heilman? Marshall, Grabow, or Marmol would have all been better choices.

You don't bring your second worst reliever (would be the worst reliever if Shark wasn't stupidly on this team) when you're trying to protect a 1 run lead in the 7th. Lou continues to use Heilman in meaningful situations even though he's awful. It's Bob Howry all over again.

Heilman and Samardijza have no business on this roster besides mop-up duty.

Could Grabow potentially close? I mean, I just don't trust gregg in a big spot and maybe he could be useful in the sixth or seventh inning.

This bullpen has some pretty good parts, but I don't think they're being used very efficiently.

grabow has like a 1.50 WHIP this season.

i wouldn't pull gregg yet since he had been pretty great for an extended period of time before this weekend, but if he slips up again in the next week i'd consider swapping the roles of guzman and gregg.

PH'ing Miles with bases loaded while Fukudome is on the bench....

no kidding. i mean, yes, you're likely to lose the game and it probably doesn't matter, but that was the only outside chance they had to even consider getting back in that game and he sends up the absolute worst person imaginable. why not just give it a chance?

Ryan Howard's splits in 2009:

RHP: .307/.387/.654/1.041

LHP: .194/.276/.315/.591

He's a platoon player if stats count for anything close to reputation. WHY IS MARMOL FACING HOWARD???
