  1. Harden absolutely needs the extra rest. I don't think they need to go 6-man from here on out, but a couple weeks of giving a couple guys some extra rest is more than reasonable. I would agree with you on that. Harden at 100% in the playoffs if the Cubs make it is a bonus. :beg:
  2. Assuming Lou won't part with Heilman, we run into a bad situation in which Stevens probably goes back to Iowa. That's what I'd think, anyway. Either way, I'd imagine Gorz would stay up, right? I would assume Gorz would go down. It will only be 11-16 days until September 1st and Gorz would be unavailable for the first 3-4 of those. It will probably depend on how the bullpen has been used the previous few days though and how much the Cubs need fresh arms. Either way I don't think it's a bad situation because the timeframe will be so short before the Cubs will get everybody back from Iowa. When Lilly comes back I'd like to see them go with a 6-man rotation if only to get Harden some extra rest going into the stretch. +1 I was thinking the same thing...with this long stretch with very few off days, if he proves to be a solid arm in the rotation, it can't hurt at all to give everyone an extra day of rest down the stretch. With the Cubs in a dog fight here on out i would not change a thing with the rotation. Pitchers are not use to a six man rotation and it might hurt their performance. Here is the stats of all the starts with extra days rest. 3. Maybe closer have problems with former teams? 4. I think players like to bunt to improve the team chances to win, even if the manager don't call for a bunt.
  5. This is the old argument. Start new or try to win every year. I like both but at times you can't have both. We all can go back and see the Cubs making bad trades or bad contract signings, but for the last ten years or so the Cubs have been trying to win the big one. Maybe trying to start new is something the Cubs can't afford to do? With the White Sox and other teams close to Chicago losing fan base is something the Cubs can't do.
  6. Just a question but how many teams product superstars for years on years? I give you Yankees, Boston, and Dodgers but off the top of my head thats got to be it? No, that's not it. There are many more teams that consistently produce major league talent year after year. Tampa has a great track record at this point, and they aren't close to being done. Even with all the talent they have produced already, they are still miles ahead of the Cubs in talent still in the minors. The Cubs biggest issue has been the constant change in philosophy and/or complete ignorance in what is needed to produce major league talent. Hendry still needs to be fired yesterday. He needed to be fired yesterday a few years ago. Tampa also had top pick after top pick after top pick in every draft. Its also took now 10 years for them to finally accumulate this talent into a playoff team. To add to this the cubs are closer to the title then Rays are. Having future stars means nothing now....

  8. Players bunt on their own all the time it might be on the player and not the manager
  9. Sandberg believes strongly in small ball and being aggressive. Bunt runners over, hit and run, straight steals, manufacturing runs, playing the game the right way. Oooooh, I LOOOVE running-into-outs-ball A couple of weeks ago he had his #3 hitter sac bunt with a runner on first and second and no outs, IN THE FIRST INNING. Case closed, he shouldn't be managing the Cubs. If a player sac bunt do that always mean a manager told him to. Maybe the player did it on his own?
  10. I would think that his wife being 8 months pregnant would be when he'd be most likely to sleep with someone else. I think it makes him more weak than a douchebag. Either way it's not good. I wonder if Hendry will try to trade him now. I was bartending and a regular info me that she was sleeping with Ozzie Guillen. I question her but she gave me a photo of her and him in a bed together. So the other day in the car with my wife news was that Ozzie was going out of town to be with his wife because her father die I made a statement and my wife and she was really bad. So all I can say is it happens all the time. :beee:
  11. That play by kosuke last nite, not to get to it is one thing but to dive and let it get behind you is another. If he play it right it was a single to start the inning not a double. And then Fontent swinging at a 2-0 pitch up and in what was he going to do with that pitch. The pitch has been in trouble wait for your pitch not swing at pitchers pitch. Many times this year I think the Cubs are one of the dumbest teams maybe because their losing but when your team is injure smart teams make fewer mistakes.
  12. As being a African-American i find it funny how people say that a person is using the race card. Blacks or others dont like using the race card. Another thing being a Cubs fan I get a lot of u should be a White Sox fan since ur black.. Believe it or not racism is still out their. One thing i want to say is i dont think every person is racism but the one out there leave a bad taste in ur mouth. Go Cubs in 08!!!!!!!
