i agree with the op, it's very silly for a bunch of grown men to be told not to curse on a baseball site. i would get it if this were a religious forum, but come on.

actually it's very silly for grown men to complain that they can't swear on a baseball site.

no it's not. it's talking baseball. if i'm at a bar and start talking baseball with the stranger on the stool next to me, i couldn't care less if he swears. when's the last baseball game you went to that you DIDN'T hear people cussing?

and i'm not complaining at all. tim can run his site however he chooses, it's not my place to offer advice on how to do so. i just responded to the point that someone else brought up. if i really felt like i HAD to cuss while discussing the cubs, i'd just go to bcb or desipio or the countless other forums.

I'm pretty sure that BCB's discussion threads are more heavily moderated than this site.

Is it really a big deal either way if you can swear or not? Does swearing really help you present your thoughts and insights more effectively?

It is spring training, in warm AZ. I believe he is a good hitter but let's see how long he stays healthy when it is 42 degrees in Chicago in April.

come back to this thread in Sept.

Why don't you just come back in a few weeks when it's 42 in April?

Pam: I like the rule. makes it friendly for work.

Oscar: Surfing the internet is "work friendly"?

Jim: Sure it is. Taking time out to surf the net every now and then helps people relax, therefore making them more productive during the rest of the day.

Merideth: Reasonable, but good luck selling it to your boss.

Michael: As the boss, I encourage it!

The above look like lines from "The Office".

Companies spend lots and lots of money making sure people cannot surf the net during work.

What evidence do you have to support the notion that this site is solely comprised of grown men?

I apllaud your optomism but again we should look at his history. I too think he could be a great hitter in this league but like Wood he needs to go two consistant years in a row without injury to prove it to me. Wood was on his way and I hope this will be Milton's breakout year without injury.

Bradley in Pre-Season:

22-42 (.524/.583/.929/1.512) - 4 HR, 5 2B, 6 BB, 39 RBI

Basically an RBI per at-bat... please stay healthy!

Dammit.. thought it looked high. Cubs.com stats are so cluttered, thanks for the correction.

What we need are official replacement words for the swears. Such as, perhaps the "F word" becomes "Neifi".

Such as "Damn it, Vizcaino just got Neifi'd up"

Here's to Milton Bradley, there's been quite a bit a talk about what the Cubs have lost in DeRosa but, for me it's simple - Bradley' bat > DeRosa bat' regardless of DeRosa' versatility and leadership.

Bradley's bat is obviously much better than DeRosa's, but Bradley isn't taking DeRosa's ABs. He's taking Edmonds' ABs from last year.

DeRosa's ABs will be taken by Aaron Miles and whoever replaces Bradley in right when Milton gets hurt.

But I do appreciate Bradley's bat - I hope he's healthy all year.

Fontenot will take Fontenot's at bats, and some of DeRosa's. But my bet is Miles will have more PA than Fontenot will have increased PA.

If Fontenot can play almost as good as he did last year we will have improved our team. We still lose DeRosa's versatility though which is huge. I still think we don't have anyone who can play backup 3B in camp.
