I am jumping the gun somewhat, but wtf...

So this thread provides the opportunity to tell the rest of the low lifes in this league why your team is going to win it all.....or start to start your just wait til next year mantera.

Of course anything you say will be completely disregarded by anyone with any intelligence since it is quite clear that the Fighting Quakers are the superior team. :D)

IF:

  • Harden, Beckett, Lackey & Chamberlain start 34 games each
  • Verlander rebounds to his 2007 form
  • Buchholz wins a spot in the rotation and shows why he was a top 5 prospect
  • Beltran plays 150+ games without the nagging injuries
  • Phillips is 100% all year long
  • Hamilton keeps getting better
  • Upton, Snider, LaPorta & Gonzalez all play to their potential

Then I don't think anyone else even has a chance. :)

Probability of all the above happening? 0% :(

Usually non-drafted players are initially on waivers immediately after the draft and become free agents after the first waiver run, but it looks like they're free agents this time. That's probably because Sportsline doesn't recognize that a draft was held.

I expect to lead the league in points and have one of the top 3 records in the league and lose in the first round of the playoffs in a blowout. Happened like 4 of 6 years so far.

For a while, I thought it was my fate to lead the league in points, have the best record in the regular season, but lose in the finals to abuck. But now I have to get back to that point.

I still think I had the best team in my division last year, especially at the end. But my points and my record don't do much to substantiate that claim.

Now in 2007...I got jobbed. :(

he won't be when tim's roster is legalized of course.

you can add free agents provided they are major leaguers.

when should we start the prospect draft?

He should be. He's a rookie with zero major league appearances.

meh - doesn't matter. I had an open reserve spot, so I moved Kawakami to there. Needed an open ml slot for the prospect draft, anyway.

For the same reason that Daisuke Matsuzaka and Hideki Matsui and Kosuke Fukudome should not be considered minor league eligible. They were signed to major league deals and to compete at the major league level.

If they are allowed to be stashed as minor leaguers, when they have never played a minor league game in their life (at least in the USA), nor are they expected to, then they should be part of the prospect draft.

That's my opinion on it anyway.

To me, drafting and stashing Kawakami in the minor leagues and considering your roster legal is trying to skirt the rules to your advantage. He's clearly a major league starting pitcher. Every indication is that Kawakami will be in the Braves starting rotation.

If Kawakami doesn't make the Braves rotation and they do send him to the minor leagues, then I would believe you would be allowed to place him in your minor leagues. But, not until then.

To the contrary, if Kawakami doesn't make the Braves and gets sent to the minors...I will have to release him. I took the gamble of him being on the major league roster out of camp when I drafted him according to the rules of the draft.

On the other hand, he clearly fits our definition of minor-league eligible until his 10th start in the majors. If your point were valid, we'd have to take any prospect and immediately place him on our major league rosters as soon as they are active in MLB. If Kawakami isn't minor league eligible, then Max Scherzer shouldn't be, either.

yeah, he's clearly minor league eligible. the rules say you can be on the minor league roster if you've played less than X number of games in the majors. it doesn't say anything about having played X number of games in the minors.

You seriously drafted him under this premise? Come on.

You took him with the pick right before me and I had every intention of drafting him and counting him as one of my rostered major leaguers. I never would have considered him a minor leaguer, just like I never placed Alexei Ramirez in my minor leagues last year when I drafted him.

I don't remember Matsuzaka's owner placing him in the minors and I don't remember Fukudome's owner placing him in the minors.

Placing him in the minors is just an attempt to skirt the rules, or at least how the rules should be interpreted, IMO.
