With Tennessee "alledgely" hiring Lance Guidry, aka Janzen Jackson's father, this could affect recruiting for three teams. A: LSU. For UT to supposedly hired JJ father, could make them the faves to land the young man. B: Tennessee. It would mean getting their biggest win in recruiting in yrs, IMO. C: Alabama as it would almost eliminate them for consideration. I'm going to lie this one hurts, but it doesn't change the fact Alabama still has a great class coming in. This would mean a big time battle between Alabama and LSU for Darren Myles, Jr will be heating up.

Now, without sounding too brassy, but Alabama should finished in the top 5 on both scout and rivals, considering: A. certain big time prospects have AL as their leaders, and B. Bama's silent comments. Alabama has Kirkpatrick/Patrick as locks, and Bama is sure to sign a combination of following players Patrick Patterson, Kendall Kelly, and/or Rueben Randle (WR), Ed Stinson and/or Fletcher Cox (JACK LBers), Bobby Massie, Brandon Moore and/or Morgan Moses (OL), Eddie Lacy and/or Ronnie Wingo (RB/CB/ATH) and you can see why I am EXTREMELY excited about Alabama's class. Before people are going to say Alabama is going to oversign, that's because they are, and they already have a plan in place. In certain cases, ala Eddie Lacy and/or Morgan Moses, both are likely sign and place. If I had my case I would say: Dre Kirkpatrick (DB), Tana Patrick (LBer), Bobby Massie and Brandon Moore (OL), Ed Stinson (DE) Eddie Lacey (RB; Sign and Place), Kendall Kelly and Patrick Patterson (WR) and one major surprise on NSD will round out Bama's recruiting.

Suffice to say, Alabama won't be a one yr wonder. And best news of the day for us Bama fans, Kerry Murphy, a monster DT prospect from the 2007 class, has finally been cleared by the clearinghouse, and is now enrolling at UA. Big news indeed.

So I hope everybody's favorite team is accomplishing their goals, like my team is. And hopefully we'll have another great football season in 2009.

I think Scout's football coverage is garbage. I don't know if that applies overall or just KU. But Rivals seems way more comprehensive and on top of things. I don't trust scout at all for football.

Rivals has KU ranked 31, which is damn good for us. Would love to crack the 20s.

Interesting. I never check scout.com (because they suck and are terribly boring), but FSU is #13 in their rankings and #12 with rivals.com. We should improve somewhat, but I'll wait to see what we do on the field with all the busts we've had as of late.

If there is one recruiting service worse then scout, it is ESPN. Don't trust any recruiting service outside of rivals, but if your coach is worth his weight in gold, trust him (like Bama fans do with Saban) and his coaching staff over any analyst.

What's your problem with Nick Saban? Why have your bought into the media perception of him? Nick Saban is A: A hell of a coach, B: a hell of a recruiter, C: Nick and his wife Terry are good people. Whatever your problem with Saban is, is pretty damn petty.

well i'm an eagles fan and a penn state fan, which don't give me much reason to hate a guy who ditched michigan st, lsu and the miami dolphins. what do you think is more likely, that a philadelphia/penn state fan has a petty reason to hate/distrust nick saban, or an alabama fan has more reason to want to trust and like the guy who is now the head coach of alabama?

I've said from the beginning that if Nick Saban stays 5 yrs (both the length at LSU and Michigan State) that I would be more then happy. Alabama NEEDED a guy of Nick Saban caliber to help restored the school football program back to where it once was. And he's getting very close to doing that. If Saban leaves after 2011, by then Alabama's job will become a viable place to coach again. Every REASONABLE Bama fan (and there are those of us) who knows Saban is a short-term mercenary, but we are going to trust him for as long as he is here. I mean, if you need a coach to turn a program around in a short period, which coach would you want on your said? I mean Nick Saban doesn't have the recruiting hot beds that Pete Carroll and Urban Meyer have every yr, nor did he walk into a ready made program like Urban Meyer. As far as I am concern, he's a better coach then Carroll, a better recruiter then Meyer and a better person then Les Miles.

Take it whatever you want, but if Penn State was struggling in the Big 10 and didn't have Joe Pa as HC, one of the first coaches Penn State would call to see if he is available is Nick Saban. You take the good with the bad about Nick pawning himself off as a merc.

You are only getting a test tube from Brett Farve, but he has yet to decide if he is going to give it to OU. He expects to have a decision made in the next week to 5 months.

What is so great about Nick Saban being a recruiter? MSU has their best rated incoming class that i can think of, better than i can remember while in East Lansing, they actually landed quite a few, not just one, of the top in state recruits this year. Les Miles is pulling in a fantastic class at LSU, is he now all of a sudden a great recruiter now too. Rodriguez has pulled in more 4 star recruits this year than ALL of his years at WVU. Good coaches at prominant football schools bring in the talent. Guys like a Brewster or Zook i would classify as good recruiters.

Purdue. They have really fallen down hill in the later years of Joe Tiller. They are a better program than the talent they are bringing in.

LSU has the number one class according to Rivals. It looks like we'll have a load of new talent with the Tigers next year.

Assuming they are not related to Ryan Perrilloux.

Ah, okay. I knew you rooted for the Warhawks too. I guess that's due to the fact that you live there, and I assume your wife went there since she is a pharmacist.

My entire family with the exception of me attended ULM...or I should say NLU as that was what it was called then. My brother works there now. I've also taken close to 50 hours there, I just don't have a degree from the university. Most of what I've taken was for my teacher certification or post graduate hours.

Texas is looking good so far with 6 in the Rivals top 100, including a five-star QB, DE and OL and 11 four-star players.
