Shonn Greene had no business even being brought up in the Heisman discussion.

Thats what I don't get from all the Iowa fans....you guys do realize that Heisman's go to players who are playing for teams that are ranked at the end of the year at the very least?

He had a great year hell an amazing year, but that's not all that's factored in

beanie cant stay on the field in college, he's gonna get knocked around in the nfl

Beanie is pretty good, but I think he's overrated by some. It's like every between-the-tackles RB out of OSU has to be the next Eddie George or something.

It should be all that's factored in. It's a joke of an award anyway, I was just surprised I never saw his name mentioned.

Well I agree, but that's the reason it wasn't

the Heisman is (and should) be awarded solely on how good the player was that year. It should have no "NFL Projectability" factor in it at all (and clearly hasn't, as half the guys who have won have been terrible in the pros)

You're right. Being the best running back in the country is meaningless. Remember, like you said no national champion in the last 10 years has had a 1,000 yard rusher. Wait, how many times did you backtrack on that?

It's much more impressive to throw slip screens 1-yard in front of the line of scrimmage (or 8 yard ducks to guys who are fass) all year than it is to be the guy to stop on an offense and still get over 6 yards per carry and 100 yards every week.

Dude were not saying based on his numbers he had an amazing year...heisman is not decided by just players numbers it's based on the [expletive] media, There team being one of the top ranked teams, Then the numbers

Anyways as far as the draft the Combine will be huge for Shonn. In '06 he ran the 2nd fastest 40 on the team. I would guess it would have placed him right around 4.5, maybe a touch under. Charles Godfrey was first and he ran a 4.45 at the combine.

Then he had a year away from training, away from football and didn't really get back into usual shape until mid-season. I don't see him sneaking into the back of the first unless he's sub 4.5.

Forte ran a 4.51 last year.

His hands aren't great but aren't bad. He had a couple drops but Iowa just doesn't throw to the RB much. Albert Young had incredible hands and even lined up out wide a fair amount. He didn't get a ton of receptions.

Penn State looks to have a pile of Day 2 guys but no one who'll have an impact right away in 2009. Derrek Williams will maybe return punts for someone next year.

McCoy says he's coming back to Pitt. I'm surprised.

Probably cause they looked horrible in the bowl game and he has some big name backs against in the draft this year

Yeah but he's just going to get another year of mileage added to him at Pitt. I don't think it's a good move for McCoy.

On a scouts perspective probably so and in his mind he's probably thinking what I thought

I like McCoy more than Beanie Wells. He's a first round running back in the 09 draft and is still returning for his junior year. With the way it goes for RBs, I don't know why he's returning.

Maybe he cares about academics? ha jk :rotfl:....Like I said that would be the only the thing that makes sense to me...in scouts minds though the risk of an injury won't help him

maybin says he's coming back; let's hope he sticks to that. he'd probably go top 10 if he comes out. i could see williams working his way up into round 3 because he'll probably show well at the combine.

ESPN says Georgia QB Matt Staford and RB Knowshon Moreno are expected to turn pro today. Florida State DE Everette Brown will turn pro too. I'd love to see the Bears nab Brown at 18 if he falls that low.

Also, DE/OLB George Selive will return for his senior season at South Florida. He was expected to be a top 15 pick at the start of the season but had a really down and injury-riddled season and the NFL told him he wouldn't be picked in the first three rounds.

I could see D-Will even going in Round 2. I also think Butler and Scirrotto could go in later rounds. Norwood is small and will go undrafted, IMO. AQ Shipley could be a first rounder.
