Penn State looks to have a pile of Day 2 guys but no one who'll have an impact right away in 2009. Derrek Williams will maybe return punts for someone next year.

maybin says he's coming back; let's hope he sticks to that. he'd probably go top 10 if he comes out. i could see williams working his way up into round 3 because he'll probably show well at the combine.

I could see D-Will even going in Round 2. I also think Butler and Scirrotto could go in later rounds. Norwood is small and will go undrafted, IMO. AQ Shipley could be a first rounder.

Yeah, I think Derrek Williams is a day 1 guy (err, the old day 1 with 3 rounds).

I hate having just two rounds on Day 1. They should have left it the way it was - much better then.

I could see the Titans taking Shonn Greene in the first or second round. I'm at the point now where I'm assuming they'll take a running back in the first or second round each draft and since the last two (Chris Johnson and Chris Henry) were more athletic, faster guys, I figure a bigger back to compete with LenDale would be in order.

If I had my way, though, I'd hope they would look at a corner to replace Nick Harper or - if they don't bring Albert back - a large defensive tackle.

I could see Trevard Lindley or Mike Mickens as possibilities at CB or perhaps Sen'Derrick Marks or Peria Jerry at DT. Of course, I'm probably very, very wrong given the Titans' draft history.

You are high if you think Scirrotto gets drafted in anything other than baseball or military. NFL coaches expect their safeties to cover wideouts, afterall.

Also Truffle, please link to anywhere Maybin said he is returning. Everything I hear is that he has his evaluation and he is weighing the decision. Typically, when a player is "torn" on the decision, it means he is going to enter. He has become very close with LaVar over this past season, and LaVar has been telling him to take the money. Expect him to go (the staff does, you should too).

Jared Odrick will most likely return, but right now, expect Maurice Evans to enter, even if he's told he is a 3rd-4th rounder. He wants out, and staff doesn't really care too badly if he leaves.

The real Defensive Line problem PSU will have is replacing Larry Johnson, Sr. if/when he leaves for Illinois' DC job. Talk about the balance shifting from one program to another...

Shipley will be a round 3 guy, centers just don't go that high anymore (unless a team takes him to make into a guard). Ohrnberger will get picked too, and hopefully Tony Davis. Talk about a kid that you should be happy to root for. All-around class act, I'm pleased to have gotten to know him.

Kevin Kelly has made himself into an NFL kicker, whether or not a team uses a pick on him is another story. But Robbie Gould won't be the only PSU alum in the League for long.

Why would the Titans take a running back early? I have my doubts about Lendwhale being a hard enough worker to stick in the league as an effective big back but it worked pretty well for them this year.

Yeah, I saw that. The receiving group, especially among underclassmen, is looking very deep IMO.

Sweet, we can grab one in the 3rd round and sit him on the bench all year.

Williams is going to be a huge steal. He may go in the 2nd, but he should be ready to step in a be a slot WR for a lot of teams, almost right away.

He's the kind of player that could really benefit from the Combine too.

Shonn Greene had no business even being brought up in the Heisman discussion.

You're right. Being the best running back in the country is meaningless. Remember, like you said no national champion in the last 10 years has had a 1,000 yard rusher. Wait, how many times did you backtrack on that?

It's much more impressive to throw slip screens 1-yard in front of the line of scrimmage (or 8 yard ducks to guys who are fass) all year than it is to be the guy to stop on an offense and still get over 6 yards per carry and 100 yards every week.

Dude were not saying based on his numbers he had an amazing year...heisman is not decided by just players numbers it's based on the [expletive] media, There team being one of the top ranked teams, Then the numbers

You can't write like this and call ANYONE [expletive]

Chris Wells comparable might be Larry Johnson but a touch faster. He would need a strong line like Larry does/did, dude does get banged up and he would be wise to leave now. Javon Ringer, eh. I like Green. CJ Spiller is an interesting prospect, Clemsons line hasnt been all that good. His 40 will look good at the combine, not Chris Johnson good but good.

How is Wells considered a better NFL prospect than Moreno? He has more mileage on him and has shown an almost complete inability to stay healthy for a full season.

Let's see, Wells has:

- 2 more inches of height

- 30 more lbs of weight

- 11 months younger

- Reported similar 40 times

And actually, Moreno has 498 carries the last 2 years. Wells has 481 (104 his freshman year). And warranted or not, the Big Ten gets better rep than the SEC for RBs taking a pounding. Meaning, scouts think Moreno is more likely to more bigger hits in the NFL than he did in college and due to his size, scouts question if he can stay even as healthy as Wells.

Despite my last post, I personally wouldn't draft Wells or Ringer. Spiller has star potential, even with being smaller. I actually think scouts will NOT shy away from smaller RBs anymore. Steve Slaton was excellent in Houston (quietly led rookie Rbs in rushing). Darren Sproles has shown he can handle a full workload of carries. Spiller seems like a Slaton clone. In the right situation, he could have a huge year. I'd love him in the 3rd round for the Bears.

Sounds like Adrian Peterson to me!

Please let Maclin go pro and drop to the Bears (or them move up to get him)

maclin is supposed to announce on friday. all signs point to coming to the draft.

Well excuse me. Being at the school myself, I'd think I know this stuff. If Scirotto is picked, it will probably be in round 6-7.

Ohrnberger and Shipley were bruising linemen. I'd be surprised if they don't get picked. Kelly won't be picked but he'll catch on as a FA. Davis could be a mid-late rounder. I think Maybin wants to stay but as said, he's "weighing his options." I've heard nothing about Odrick. Where have you heard about Evans wanting out?

Yeah, they've gone RB or secondary usually, but WR is a glaring need.
