I'm torn on this one.

Regular season - college football by a wide margin

Postseason - college basketball by a wider margin

I guess I'll go college football, but if they'd implement a real postseason, it'd be college football in quite a landslide.

I just graduated from a school that is way more into football than basketball and if I didn't really think about this I'd pick football but I find myself getting into basketball games way more than football games (for instance the game against Ohio State I was throwing crap everywhere whenever I saw Eddie blow his stupid whistle).

The answer is football. I found myself losing my mind at a game in 2006 when, on a 4th down play that ended up being Ball State's last chance, a flag was thrown and then picked up. I couldn't even believe how nuts I went as it was happening.

Point being, that doesn't happen to me with other sports. Ever. And it happens with college football at least a few times a year.

Completely agree on the first two points, just not the third.

I don't think it would matter to me regardless of what kind of postseason college football had. March Madness kicks all kinds of ass and nothing comes close to beating it.

March Madness is unbelievably awesome, but there would just be something specially awesome about a college football playoff. I think it'd be better even than March Madness.

College basketball is exciting/interesting for one month a year.

College football is exciting/interesting for five months a year.

Just cause Missouri's out of it after November doesn't mean the rest of the months aren't exciting.

That really has nothing to do with it. Maybe it's because all of the games are on the weekend, but I find myself getting more excited for big CFB games than I do CBB games. Half the time I don't watch/don't know when the big CBB games are, and I know far more about CFB players than I do CBB players.

Plus, football is 1000x the sport that basketball is.

Football has more of the 1 and done type feeling where every game is way more important, so I guess that's where you're coming from.

But basketball is so much better as a sport than football.

When in doubt, go with football.

It's funny being an IU alum and the Hoosiers not having many football teams to speak of in my lifetime, but meanwhile having 3 championships and several final 4s since my birth that I would go with football. I think that's part of what I enjoy about college football. No favorite team.

There's a reason everybody knows February is the worst sports month even though college basketball is approaching its climax. Basketball just isn't that interesting.

That's funny. March is thought of as the best month for sports because of the "interest" of college basketball (along with spring training).

I give the edge to basketball because of March Madness has opposed to the bowl season. Not just the dumb BCS in general, but the fact that they wait so long to have the bowl games after the regular season ends. I find it incredibly anti-climactic.

Plus I don't think there's any sporting event as exciting as March Madness.

September/October are thought of as the best.

March is good because NBA/NHL are in the stretch drive and March Madness. But March Madness is the only thing college basketball has going for it. And after week 2 it's anti-climactic and dull. College basketball is interesting for 8 days.

College football is like dry humping, sure it's fun but in the end all you're left with is a mess and nothing really got accomplished.

Where do you get that Sept/Oct are thought of as the best? Baseball is the 3rd most popular sport in this country. The stretch run and playoffs pale in comparison to March Madness for most people. College basketball also has pre-conference tournaments, conference rivalries (where everyone actually plays each other), and the stretch run where teams are trying to make it in off the bubble.

Even if I let you argue that college basketball has 8 interesting days, no other sport can match that. The 4 straight days of 12 hours of action are unparalleled.

And I did vote football by the way.

While there have been some duds, most of the recent title games have been pretty good, with 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008 falling under that category. Florida hammered UCLA in 2006 and I don't really remember the UConn-GT game in 2004.

The Final Fours are dull compared to the first couple weekends, but then again, nothing can really compete with the first two weekends of March Madness.
