Torry Holt's agent said he "doesn't see" the free agent wide receiver seriously considering the Bears.

"We have several other teams that are interested," Kennard McGuire said. "Torry has a process and he is going through that process. We will [have another visit] it is just a matter of time." Holt would make sense for Chicago, but it doesn't sound like he's interested.

I hate attitudes like that.

I think the truth is Holt doesn't want to play in the cold, and he doesn't want to play on grass. Both will tend to slow him down and make him look older. I'll bet he's willing to take a significantly less attractive situation to play inside, on turf.

We'll see if it falls that way.

Holt is a Hall of Famer, but his best days are way behind him. While I dig Lovie: no more Rams retreads please.

Holt should just go straight to TV. I've been impressed with his Draft Day analysis and work. He can join Marshall Faulk on the NFL Channel.

Yeah, I'm a little wary of bringing over every Rams castoff, too. I think Pace is enough. Arch was a disaster (of course, via the Redskins rather than direct).

Perhaps, even more shocking than the Bears acquisition of Cutler, is the number of people (including Rick Morrisey - what the hell has he been sniffing?) calling the Score saying it was a bad trade for the Bears. In what universe is that true?! Edited by gflore34

In the Packers universe.

In the universe that 90% of Score listeners make up. And this is coming from one myself.

He seems legitimately interested in Tennessee, though. He visited here, making me think he's considering us.

And the Titans play outdoors on natural grass. Though you may be onto something about him not wanting to play in the bitter cold. He's visited Jacksonville and Tennessee so far.

New potential Bears pickup available.

Giants just cut Plaxico Burress.

Talk about possibly the best off season a team has had in a long time. This would be it if they were to pick up Plax. If he's not going to jail, the need is certainly there and there aren't any other guys on the team who are a problem.. I see no reason not to do it.

If no Holt, Matt Jones?

Doesn't he have a suspension and potential legal troubles on the horizon as well?

Rotoworld says he likely won't be in the league for the '09 season.

Even if he doesn't go to jail, surely Goodell has the 8 game suspension already typed up, waiting to slap it down. If it's jail time, then bye-bye '09 entirely.

I don't see how a team that released Tank Johnson can then pick up Burress.

It could just be the cold.

Some of these guys really, really do not like it. Well....I mean nobody likes it, but you get what I'm saying.

Yeah, it could well be the cold. Jacksonville doesn't get that cold in November and December and while Nashville gets pretty cold, it's nothing that compares to Chicago.

I kind of want a guy who can bust through the bump n' run more, get those intermediate routes without being knocked off his path. I'm not sure Holt was ever that guy.

I think he pans out to be mostly a slot guy now. I certainly can't see him blowing by CBs on fly routes.

I know this might be the kool-aid talking, but does anyone see a feasible way the Bears can trade back into the first round to get DHB?

britt would be a better second round option based on the fact that we're not giving up more picks/players to get him.

Yeah, that's the kind of receiver I'd like too. We can stretch vertically with Hester and attack the seams with Clark and Olsen. I think we need that guy who can take over in the red zone and pick up big chunks of intermediate yardage so there's effective players at all levels of the defense.

The Bears offense is built on yards after the catch. They need someone that can get the ball in the open field and take it to the house. In order to get away from the defender that much, they need to be able to run great routes. Hester can do it occassionally.

Yeah, use the TE's for the inside more physical routes.

Britt would be amazing. What about Robiskie? I'm pretty sure he will be around.

I wonder if Murphy will be there in the 3rd round...

Boldin still wants to be traded, but it sounds like he's headed to Miami.

He would probably cost too much in return talent anyway.

What is the deal with Lloyd? Are they bringing him back? He certainly wasn't awe inspiring last year, but he did have a rather mediocre arm throwing it to him. Could he be a better threat with a great arm throwing to him?

Hester, Bennett, Davis, Lloyd, draft pick

With the receiving skills out of the backfield and the very strong TE tandem mixed with a very solid QB, maybe these guys would be enough to start the season. With the stronger O-Line, the running game should be better as well.
