A bunch of places are reporting that the Mets are about to lock up K-Rod for something around 3/37. That would be a good deal for the Mets considering what other closers have gotten in recent years.

in recent years yes but I don't think it is this year especially when you can get a better closer in Wood for less

I was curious about Closer contracts so I looked up what Francisco Cordero got last year and I found this nugget of hilarity: His agent is named Bean Stringfellow.

If Wood stays healthy(obviously a big if), they're pretty similar in value.

I can't believe he'll get that little.

a bunch from Rotoworld:

- Izturis talking to O's

- Cards in on Wolf and Burnett

- Garrett Anderson coveted by Rays

- possible Francouer for Greinke deal

- 5 teams interested in Ankiel

- possible Francouer for Greinke deal

???

Royals currently have Guillen, DeJesus, Teahen, Butler. Why on earth would they be interested in Francouer? Especially for a pitcher like Greinke?

They are building a winner in Baltimore...

2:34pm: Roch Kubatko believes the Orioles are down to Izturis for shorstop, and two years $6.5MM would get it done.

A Cubs official indicated that there was nothing to a supposed Kosuke Fukudome-for-Carlos Silva rumor.

The contracts are similar, but the Cubs are better off hoping that Fukudome bounced back. Silva probably wouldn't be an upgrade for their rotation.

I would have puked a bit if we made that trade.

I don't have much faith in Fukudome being a good player but that would have been a horrible trade, Silva is absolute garbage.

This could get bad REALLY quickly.

Rumor has it that Sabathia declined the Yanks offer and the Brewers are the favorites.

What if the Yanks look to get Peavy now? We lose out on Peavy and the Brewers keep Sabathia. I hate Sabathia!!! Take the more money and go to NY!

Peavy doesn't want to go to the AL, IIRC.

And I'm not too upset if the Brewers sink 25% of their annual payroll into Sabathia. If he gets injured, that would completely destroy their chances.

Agreed....They have many more problems then just losing Sabathia..The Brewers getting him back wouldn't be that big of a deal

If they got him back, we have a contender for the NL Central next year. If they don't we might not. Although with the Cardinals getting Greene, and possibly in the mix for Burnett and someone else I forgot, they might be competing next year.

i'd agree that he is somewhat overrated, but he still is a much better option than wood right now. wood is still a hhuuuugggggggggeeeeee injury risk.
