• Harold Baines

• Jay Bell

• Bert Blyleven

• David Cone

• Andre Dawson

• Ron Gant

• Mark Grace

• Rickey Henderson

• Tommy John

• Don Mattingly

• Mark McGwire

• Jack Morris

• Dale Murphy

• Jesse Orosco

• Dave Parker

• Dan Plesac

• Tim Raines

• Jim Rice

• Lee Smith

• Alan Trammell

• Greg Vaughn

• Mo Vaughn

• Matt Williams

This is quite the list. Jessie Orosco and Rickey Henderson finally made it on the ballot. I can't decide who is he most ridiculous candidate, although I think that the frontrunners are Greg Vaughn and Dan Plesac.

Andre Dawson, Dan Plesac, Lee Smith, and Mark Grace constitute the former Cubs on this ballot. Personally, I'm curious as to how Mark Grace, notorious for being the hits leader of the 90s, does on this ballot.

If I could, I'd vote for Henderson, McGwire, Mattingly, Grace, and Dawson, in that order. Sure there may be some sentimental votes there but that's how this thing works sometimes and I think it is clear the McGwire isn't going to get in but I'd still vote for him.

And I am real curious to see how the last three do in the voting.

I would vote for Henderson, McGwire, Raines, Bert Blyleven. I could be talked into any of Grace, Mattingly, and Dawson but my inclination would be to vote no

There was a pretty good ESPN Debate article last year between Gammons and Stark discussing whether or not Raines was a HOF worthy candidate. Stark said he was, and eventually made Gammons also believe that he was.

Stark gives some good info in there.

I'm surprised no one is high on Lee Smith. People are going to cream their jeans when Trevor Hoffman goes into the HOF because he's the saves leader. Lee Smith was the saves leader for a long time, and his numbers weren't terrible, his career ERA is 25 points higher than Hoffman's at this point. An ERA+ of 131 isn't bad, but people will look at Hoffman's save totals and instantly induct him, which to me is confusing considering Lee Smith held the record for saves for a while and no one has really gotten on a bandwagon of voting him in.

If I had my way Henderson, Raines, Blyleven, Dawson, and Smith would get my vote

Henderson.

Does anyone think that the BWAA may keep out all the steroid era players (or at least those with a taint) until such time as their value can be sorted out?

I could see Bonds never getting in though. It's kind of ironic that two of the greatest of all time could be left out of the HOF.

My ballot:

• Bert Blyleven

• Andre Dawson

• Rickey Henderson

• Tommy John

• Mark McGwire

• Jack Morris

• Dale Murphy

• Tim Raines

• Lee Smith

• Mo Vaughn

But then, I'm a "Big Hall" guy.

so you would vote for tommy john, andre dawson, jack morris and mo vaughn, but not alan trammell? please provide some sort of logical reason for this.

henderson is a no-brainer. i will argue until i'm blue in the face that alan trammell easily surpasses the hall of fame qualifications, but very few people seem to realize it. i'd also vote for blyleven and maybe tim raines - i recall looking more deeply into the raines issue last year and being about 80/20 in favor of him being in.

Yes, there should be no question about Rickey.

1st all-time in Runs

1st all-time in Stolen Bases

2nd all-time in Walks

4th all-time in Times on Base

4th all-time in Games Played

10th all-time in Runs Created

21st all-time in Base Hits

Oh, and let me just throw something else in. In a few years time, whatever numbnut sportswriter doesn't vote for Greg Maddux should be summarily put to death.
