Anyone else still intrigued by some of the names being thrown around for Dero?

I haven't heard any other actual players for Derosa, only that teams are interested in him.

If they aren't giving up DeRosa for Peavey why would they give him up for anyone else?

It's mindbottling

It's mind boggling.

And it's not that they were giving up DeRosa, it's that they were going to give up DeRosa and everyone in the organization with more than one vowel in their last name.

yeah, i'm not as concerned about going from 97 wins to 103...the cubs probably win the division w/o peavy. i want peavy for games 163 and beyond.

if that's the case, aren't you a little concerned about him sucking ass in every playoff game he's started?

all 9 2/3 innings? no.

Mindbottling is from Blades of Glory.

DeRosa and Marquis in the trade is Hendrys way of making the money fit. They won't pay Wood and Blanco because of money. So,they downgrade with Gregg and possibly Bako. They need money for a RF. Fukodome in center is replacing Edmonds. That seems like a downgrade also. If they weren't concerned with his bat, they wouldn't be considering a platoon. Losing DeRosa would've weakened them also. Dempster is not pitching for a contract, how will he perform next year ? I see bigger concerns. Jake Peavy seems like a luxury to me at this point.

Plus play-in game.

Let's assume the deal is dead. What should the Cubs do with the extra $9 million? I say get Dunn and save the rest for the deadline.

Not anymore he's not. Just ask the Giants.

Didn't Peavy and his agent say they won't approve a trade to the AL?

I am not taking direct quotes here but I believe what they said was that he prefers the NL and wasn't going to give any AL teams, but if a AL team had a deal Towers liked they would listen to it. But he really wants to stay in the NL.

Never said you should be. It's just intellectually dishonest not including the play-in game, which is ostensibly a playoff game.

Oh yeah I forgot about that, well then how about we sign

Bobby Hill

Mark Bellhorn

Jason Dubois

David Kelton

He Sop Choi

Les Walrond

and try and get a Pirates FO guy in the Padres FO and propose a trade for Peavy revolving around those players.
