Isn't this the team that tried to dump a truckload of money on Texeira?

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/12/nationals-have.html

If the chose is between playing for a contender like the Cubs, or a 2nd tier team like the Nats, imagine what team Bradley will sign with? The only way the Nats will sign Bradley is if they severely overpay for him. And really, the Nats need another OF like the Cubs need another backup 2nd baseman. I'm not concern about the Nats for Bradley.

It means that much like Roberts and Peavy before him, the deal is not as "done" as we've been lead to believe. Seriously, just because Washington isnt a good team, doesnt mean that they wont throw more money at the guy than hes worth, and he wont accept. Remember, as stated, they were about to dump a truck load of money on Tex, and now that hes out of the pictre, they still have said truck load of money, and nowhere to dump it. If they were willing to offer Tex that kind of money, surely they can afford Bradley plus another decent free agent.

Granted, it would be like the Giants chosing Rowand as their cornerstone-a player who would be a great addition to a contender, but not the type of guy that they can take an all around bad team and make a contender.

The whole point of them going after Tex was so they'd have a franchise player/superstar that would draw attendance and a guy they thought they could build a team around. Milton Bradley is none of these things.

With a team like the Nats, theyd be better off with Bradley and 1 or 2 other players of his level than on player like Texeira. Maybe they're thinking in those terms, and maybe Bradley would just assume be one of the main attractions on a team like the Nats than another piece in the puzzle for the Cubs. Plus the fact that Washington would be a much lower pressure atmosphere, and a lot of people are questioning whether MB would be able to take the Chicago fans if things go wrong.

I am not sure what that link is supposed to show. It says the Nats have interest in Bradley, Dunn and Hudson. The report from Levine is that the Cubs and Bradley have agreed in principal to a deal and will announce it next week after the holiday. Of course anything could happen (like in the Furcal deal) but this link has nothing substantial. I think it has been a known fact that the Nats and Rays would be among the teams interested in signing Bradley.

Bradley was at Wrigley. That much I can confirm

I'm sure he has been at some point in his career.

Without getting into specifics (that is up to him), I can confirm that the poster is currently employed in Wrigley. As such, this info is first hand.

Bradley was at wrigley field yesterday shortly after 11 a.m. I don't have anything other than that. He did not arrive with with anyone else. His reps could have came earlier or later. He came to wrigley yesterday via a car service and entered through the Cubs Adminstrative offices.

Milton Bradley-DH-Rangers Dec. 31 - 6:15 pm et

The Nationals reportedly have serious interest in free agent Milton Bradley as a center fielder.

Bradley and Elijah Dukes on the same team would be a sight to behold, but it's not at all likely to happen. Bradley figures to sign with the Cubs, and the Nationals are better off without him, if only because he has so little chance of staying healthy as an outfielder.

I suppose they have a point there. They may as well add Ron Artest into the mix. 2 guys like that might be a bit much to handle, especially for a young team. I know we have Zambrano, but hes more of a free spirit than a basket case.

That definitely has to be something good. I doubt that players visit a potential new teams field unless its something serious. Otherwise, isnt it just phone calls between the GM and agent?

It appears to be just a matter of time before Milton Bradley is officially a Chicago Cub and rumors have suggested it will be a 3-year deal worth $30 million. If Bradley becomes a Cub and with the fact Jason Marquis is on the way out, could the Cubs have another right fielder with a number 21 on his back?

Not so enthusiastic about the 3 years, but 10 mil a year isn't bad I guess.

We'll be paying him $100,000 a game! (best case scenario)

How about a no trade clause?

Probably won't need one. At 10m a year, if he misses anymore time, no one will trade for him.

Do you work at Wrigley or something?

No, he's stalking Bradley.

Mike says it's a matter of the Rays coming close enough to, matching or beating the Cubs best offer to Bradley. He prefers the AL, but the Rays are apparently the only team he's interested in other than the Cubs.

Mike says, off the record, that he's 90% sure they land Milton Bradley, and bases that on conversations he had with some Tampa people. Doesn't sound like the Rays want to guarantee two years, let alone three.

They are also in Burrell, too, so it looks like Bradley to the Cubs is likely.

if the Cubs traded DeRosa and Marquis and end up with neither Bradley or Peavy.....

Peavy's the key for me. I'll consider the DeRo trade bad even if we get Bradley and don't get Peavy. I hate downgrading at one spot to upgrade at another.

The DeRo trade is terrible if we don't end up with Peavy.

i wouldn't call it terrible. i'd sall the miles contract terrible. the derosa trade is kinda "eh".

We were downgrading no matter who we signed once we traded DeRo. If you're not moving him to be able to vastly upgrade elsewhere, then trading him is a terrible decision.

Bradley is not a vast upgrade, Peavy is.
