Oh we're doing lineups now?

I'd probably go with

Soriano

Fukudome

Ramirez

Bradley

Lee

Derosa

Soto

Theriot

Pitcher

Give Fuku a while to prove he's not a bust, if he can't handle the #2 spot after a month or so,

Soriano

Derosa

Ramirez

Bradley

Lee

Soto

Fuku

Theriot

Pitcher

LF Soriano

Is that the batting order?

Please...no.

I dont know, didnt billy Martin used to draw names out of a hat to make his lineups too? It worked pretty well for him.

Why does everyone seem to wand MB as a number 3 hitter? While he would be a great addition to the team, he has a career .280/.370/.457 line, averaging about 13 HRs/season. Thats a nice OPB, but the power numbers are more along the lines of a number 5 hitter. A number 3 hitters slg should be closer to the .500 range, which coincidently, Aramis is, along with averaging HRs in the high 20's.

Also, I really dont like Lee in the 2 spot. It's the leadoff hitters job to get on base one way or another, so why would we want the double play king lurking behind him? Also, a big part of the number 2 guys job is bunting the leadoff guy over if he gets on, and Lee isnt going to do a lot of that, nor should he. When hes not busy hitting into the twin killing, he still has some nice power.

the new thread title tells lies. i don't see anything saying it's a done deal.

It also says Levine:, which means it is possibly maybe a chance that the Cubs have a deal in place with Bradley, but at the very worst they have some interest in each other at one time over the past year.

Wow, what a night!

Late December back in '63.

What a very special time for me,

'Cause I remember what a night.

Oh, what a night.

You know, I didn't even know her name,

But I was never gonna be the same.

What a lady. What a night.

Oh, I. I got a funny feeling when she walked

In the room and I,

As I recall it ended much too soon.

:-k

Frankie Valli's "December, 1963 (Oh what a night)"

Great song.

when Soriano and Bradley are on the DL and Ramirez tweaks a knee by not hustling.

Seriously, though, I absolutely love Milton Bradley. I've wanted him on the Cubs for about 4 years now. I don't like the prospect of having him without Derosa though. I'd much rather have Derosa and Fontenot at RF/2B than Johnson or Gathright and Fontenot. I worry about Mighty Mike being exposed playing full-time.

Why would you srop MB so low vs LHP? He is a switch hitter. I didn't look it up, but I think he is much better vs LHP than RHP anyway.

That's a good thing.

It seems like you think a worse hitter (who might, among other things, hit for less power and be more likely to bunt) would be better suited getting the second most PAs. Stop thinking that.

I'm guessing he forgot Bradley switch hits. Because yes, he is an amazing hitter vs. LHPs.

Correct, total brain fart on my part. Good god, that lineup will mash lefties.

Is Dunn playing second base or something?

No, I'm using a 4 OF defense because they all suck so much.

Isn't this the team that tried to dump a truckload of money on Texeira?

If the chose is between playing for a contender like the Cubs, or a 2nd tier team like the Nats, imagine what team Bradley will sign with? The only way the Nats will sign Bradley is if they severely overpay for him. And really, the Nats need another OF like the Cubs need another backup 2nd baseman. I'm not concern about the Nats for Bradley.
