#3- His 2008 numbers are preposterously unconvincing. He slugged nearly .700 at Texas and under .500 away from Texas. Let's see, also, is he going to have a .388 BABIP again in 2009? Highly doubtful. Who had the highest BABIP of qualified players in 2008? Milton Bradley.

Why on earth are you bolding this? I covered it a while back.

Really, really strange choice of which posts to take for the cut job splitting the thread into two.

You might want to take the pg 6 reference out of the title since there's only two pages now.

Actually, I think it'd been split into 3 threads...2 in transactions, and the Dunn one in Baseball Discussions. I merged the two here, and I think we should be all set now.

That makes alot more sense. I didn't see the Dunn thread at first. It's actually in Cubs discussions. Does one of the mods know something that hasn't been announced yet that the rest of us don't know? [/irrational hope]

I think they might have a little tougher time signing Bradley than they hoped. He likes the idea of playing some time at DH to stay off the DL. Tampa is still in on him, LAA possibly, and LAD might be in on him again, too.

If we don't get Bradley, this offseason is starting to veer into the Bad category IMO.

Sounds like a negotiating ploy. Let him go to the AL, he could probably get more money and playing some time at DH surely couldn't be a negative.

meh. I was kind of into the bradley idea earlier but I've kind of grown indifferent to it. i just can't get over the tiny PA totals

Who would you get then?

If we can't sign Bradley, that would mean we would have to spend more for Abreu or bring on Dunn and have to deal with him in the OF all season. Not liking those options.

If we can't get Bradley, I'd like to trade for a younger OF that can actually play a little defense and will be around for a few years. (Hermida, McLouth, DeJesus, etc.)

If we can't get Bradley or Abreu, this offseason officially blows. We've actually found a way to downgrade the team instead of improving it and at the same time paying more for the product. Great job.

I'm sure folks will be underwhelmed by this option, but Luke Scott might be a real good fit. Maybe we send them something like Marquis Pie and Hill. They need starters and Pie was obviously on their radar.

Scott's cheap and despite his age has several affordable arb years left. Great LH half of a platoon, with DeRosa picking up the starts in RF vs. LHP. Then you spend the $10M or whatever Bradley would've cost on Ben Sheets instead.

Yeah, he's an interesting option, but I wouldn't trade that package for him.

And we'd have to blow the Pirates away with an offer to get McLouth.

Why not? Pie and Hill are apparently both completely dead to Lou, and Marquis is a guy they're trying their darnedest to dump.

I may be alone, but I think Pie still has more trade value. If it were Hill, Marquis and a lower level prospect, then yes I'd pull the trigger.

No outside the box thinking allowed.

Luke Scott has been talked about quite a bit on this board this offseason.

WHo here would give up Vitters+ for Hermida?

how is he defensively?

he's had one good year and one bad year with the bat, though I guess I would weight a good year by him at 23 years old over a bad year by him at 24.
