So, after tonight's game, there will only be 4 teams in the NFL with fewer losses than the Bears (Tennessee, NY Giants, Carolina, Wash/Pit winner). That seems amazing to me, considering how mediocre they've played so far and how they let 3 winnable games get away.

I don't see how you can say they've played mediocre. The defense has, but the offense has been solid. I think they've played very much like a 5-3 team, better than most, but not great.

I should know better, but listening to sports radio just highlights how dumb our fanbase is. I know every fanbase has dumb fans, I guess it hits me harder being from Wisconsin. I used to think the lowest common denominator was Packer fans. So not true.

Sports talk radio makes all fanbases seem dumb.

Only because all fanbases are dumb.

Just like most people are dumb, in general.

Hell, message boards make fan-bases seem smart (relative to reality).

Think about that for a second.

I believe the Bears (more importantly Grossman) are going to pull a win out of their you know what's this weekend. IDK, and I am definately a frakkin fool to believe this, but I see Grossman putting up a decent game (20-31 for 250+ yrds 2 tds, and the mandatory INT). Bears winning this game in the range of 24-10, 24-17 is definately a reasonable outcome.

Again, I know I am crazy to think Grossman can play a decent game, but it seems to me when the Bears backs are up against the wall, they seems to come out swinging. So I like the Bears chances against the Titans.

The Bears need to commit to running the ball and run quick passing routes. Don't give Grossman time to do anything stupid or start dancing around in the pocket.

That said, Turner will probably have him roll out on every down.

They'd be much better off keeping one or two extra guys in to block and sending a couple guys deep than going with the quick routes option. And no, Turner isn't going to have Rex roll out. I don't get the over the top criticism that Turner takes. He's not horrible. He disappointed me last year, but he's done a tremendous job this season getting a productive unit out of what everybody considered weak QB, WR and line situations and questionable RB.

The offense has had to be more aggressive this year. The days of thinking that they could win with defense and just enough offense are over. They can't play conservative and win. It seems like Turner and Smith have accepted that.

The Bears can run on the Titans but they'll need to set that up with the passing game, run a lot of play action and screens.

The key matchup in this game though will be the Bears D-Line vs the Titans O-line. Kerry Collins is a statue back there. If they can get pressure from the front four they can shut down the Titans offense, a unit that looked pretty bleh against the Colts for most of that game.

The Titans gave up 7 pass plays of at least 19 yards to the Packers on Sunday. While they only gave up 6 of at least 19 in the previous 2 games, FIVE of those passes went to the TE. In fact, 4 times in their 8 games, the TE has been the opposing team's leading receiver.

The Bears don't have a Dallas Clark or Tony Gonzalez (last 2 opponents), but I think this is the area the offense can exploit the Titans defense. Olsen can get down the field in a hurry against their aggressive LBs, who aren't that good in coverage anyway. Dez runs great routes and provides a huge target for Grossman. The middle of the field should be open for the TEs most of the day, provided Grossman gets some protection.

It might not be a blowout. We might be able to keep them close, just because I don't see the Titans offense as being all that explosive, just consistent and solid.

I'd be really shocked (in a good way) if we were to actually pull off the win though.

I didn't see this posted yet. This was in the note next to Orton's name on Yahoo

Mon, Nov 3 Updating a previous item, Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears QB Kyle Orton (ankle) is undergoing a series of medical evaluations Monday, Nov. 3, after suffering an ankle injury in Week 9. Head coach Lovie Smith cautioned not to put too much stock in reports that have Orton missing at least a month. The team expects to reveal more information Wednesday, Nov. 5.

I cannot envision a Bears blowout loss until the Bears actually play a game where they lose badly. You can still make an extremely easy case that the Bears should have won every game they've played this year. Imagine if it was the 8-0 Bears facing the 8-0 Titans this week?

Did anyone see this Sun Times article? Seems like they are expecting Orton's recovery time to be shorter than 4 weeks:

Just as quarterback Kyle Orton's development has been a terrific discovery for the Bears, so appears to be news regarding his health.

Reports that Orton will be out at least a month with a right ankle injury have been exaggerated. A source said Orton doesn't have a high ankle sprain and won't miss four weeks or more, and the team is waiting to see how his ankle responds before getting a better idea about what's expected to be a shorter recovery time.

I know they still had some tests to run on his ankle, but I didn't think the "high ankle sprain" diagnosis was in question. Nice.

I have very strong doubts that this is anything but a smoke screen to keep opponents guessing. He's got a high ankle sprain and is going to miss 3-4 games.

I'm quite worried that Chris Johnson is going to burn us like crazy. I'm predicting something like the AP games last year.

AND the guy can catch, which makes him all the more dangerous.

I see the Bears losing by a touchdown, more if Grossman wets the bed.

Someone mentioned the TE, but Grossman loves Des Clark, and didn't throw much to Olsen last year.

No the Grossman 2.0 last year (Where he was much better) loved tossing that fade route to Olsen.

What would that do? The gameplan isn't going to change much at all if Grossman plays instead of Orton and they're the same type of QB.

I don't think the Bears' opponent three weeks from now is presently concerned with whether Grossman or Orton is going to play.
