What are Holliday's splits away from Coors? I'm intrigued by him but I think I remember hearing he was much better in Colorado.

Wow, I think that K/9 is the end all be all stat for pitchers. Sweet.

I have no idea what you're talking about here, and it's blowing my mind. I keep reading posts to see if maybe there is some reason why you said this, but I have no idea. Perhaps it is just a revelation in your head. who knows. Anyhow, just thought you should know that your post caused 10 minutes I will never get back.

I think it was in a post by badnews where he said meph evaluated pitchers by k/9. I could be wrong on that, though. Someone did, however.

I think that our biggest need is a left handed bat that is next to impossible to K. I'd take a Mark Grace wanna be in a second. I'm not so sure that we need a power hitter, but a guy with doubles ability that hardly ever K's. One of our biggest weaknesses is that we can get a lead off double and then have the next two guys strike out.

How do you figure... take a look at the first inning of game 2, we have a guy at 2nd with nobody out and what happens? We K right away. We don't move him over, nothing, just K. I really hope we don't pick up Dunn or any other Ryan Howard look a like. I get tired of having the bases loaded with nobody out and not scoring because we strike out. We were 6th in the NL in K's.

How do you get tired of something that rarely happens?

We were 6th in the NL in K's.

The Cubs were first in the NL in runs scored...by 56 runs. Obviously, the strikeouts are not a problem.

Juan Pierre is available.

Anyone know how to check if we had a single bases loaded, 0 outs situation where we didn't score this season? Cause I don't recall it ever happening.

I think I can answer this one. Chad Billingsley. Good strike out pitchers can strike out anybody, not just strike out prone hitters. Sometimes, people are just going to strike out against a guy like Billingsley. Billingsley thrives on missing bats with his pitches.

Come to think of it, the Cubs have a few guys like that, too.

I just hate strikeouts. Just imagine how many more RBI's Ryan Howard would have had this year if he made contact on half of his K's. He'd probably drive in 160 to 170 runs a year. I don't see a player as a asset if when he is up in late innings with guys on, you can figure he's probably going to K.

Howard's K's are the result of an approach that gets him a lot of K's, and a ton of hard hit balls/home runs/extra base hits, as well as many walks. If he changed his approach to make contact on half his K's, he'd probably be less productive.

Everyone knows Cheech & Chong are funny...but can you imagine how funny they'd be if they didn't smoke pot?

Q. What did one Phish fan say to the other after they ran out of pot?

A. Damn, this music really sucks.

Yes, lets fundamentally change the #1 offense in the NL based on 3 games in general, and one inning in particular.

Yes, because good contact hitters like Mark Grace average 160-170 RBI a year. Hmm. Wait.

You know someone who makes good contact and doesn't strike out much? Miguel Tejada. 32 GIDP's this year. What do you hate more, a strike out or a GIDP? Ryan Howard hit into 11 GIDP's.

Ryan Howard= 475 outs this year

Miggy Tejada= 496 outs this year

Not much reason to if the player is productive overall.

He'd probably have fewer RBI. He drives in runs because he hits for power. He hits for power because his approach at the plate is geared toward hitting for power. His approach also allows him to draw a lot of walks. If he took a more contact-minded approach, he'd most likely hit for less power and he'd probably draw fewer walks. Instead, his weaker contact could result in fewer RBI, more double plays, and fewer RBI opportunities for those hitting behind him...ultimately resulting in fewer runs for his team.

How hard is it to Google "Matt Holliday" and find out this information?
