I care less this year than any other playoff year I've been through, but still more than I'd like to. Another game or two like last night should finish me off.

A definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting different results. Getting excited about the Cubs in the playoffs always ends with the same results.

You, more than most people, should understand that that's the case for most teams. It's the nature of the playoff format. Actually, I know you do.

I was alive in 84 but not old enough to remember. So for my playoff experiences, the Cubs are now 6-13 and 1-3 in series (and threatening to go 1-4). They've lost seven straight, by an average of almost four runs per game with not a single one-run loss in the stretch.

The nature of the playoffs is flukey coinflip-type series, not an endless procession of beatings.

I was boastful, cocky, and confident going into yesterday's game.

Today, I'm howrying bricks.

I'm the opposite. I feel really good about tonight and was nervous as hell yesterday.

I'm pretty much the same way... I know this is a gut punch losing like we did last night... but how many of you actually thought we were going to sweep? I know it happened a lot last year... but a sweep just isn't all that common.

21 of the 52 Division Series have ended in sweeps.

I'm well aware of the chance nature of the playoffs, especially a 5 game series. However, it's still heartbreaking to watch the Cubs routinely and predictably play a much poorer brand of baseball in the postseason than the one we've become accustomed to in the regular season. It's hard to find solace in the idea that they just found themselves on the wrong end of the coinflip when they walk 8 batters. Edited by Elrhino

I see way too many people are continuing to listen to Steve Stone and his brilliant analysis that Soriano cant hit good pitchers. Stone is the guy who says this crap but never does a damn thing to back it up. People need to stop listening to the blowhard Steve Stone.

When Loney hit that ball, I thought it was a fly out.

As it carried over the wall my 5 year old son asked, "What's wrong, Daddy?"

I think I mumbled some cuss words and just generally looked depressed.

Off the bat I said "popped him up". Then I saw Edmonds running and just fell into a state of dismay.

I keep watching the replay and off the bat it looks like a pop-up. How the Hell did that carry? How the Hell did Edmonds' ball not carry?

This team's too damn tight is why they underperform in the playoffs. The only playoff success the Cubs have had was in a series where they didn't have home field advantage.

Everything's gone to crap at Wrigley because of the negative energy when the smallest thing happens.

The Sox won in 04 by a team where everyone on the team called themselves the Idiots. They played loose and had fun playing, even down 3-0 to the Yankees. That's the kind of stuff the Cubs will have to do to get over the hump IMO.

Last night sucked hard. I've become emotionally cold while watching the Cubs in the playoffs.

Let's hope Z can find good Z tonight and the O gets on track, but it's a much more difficult scenario than last night was.

So if they win tonight, they must've been loose. Not every team that loses a playoff game is playing too tight.

Dempster should have told more jokes. Than he would have thrown strikes.

We are going to win both games in L.A. No one can touch Harden. Lilly is better than three-days-rest Lowe or Greg Maddux.

I may be way off base guaranteeing that but I really feel it's true. And if it is we just have to win one home game at the Cesspool of Negative Energy Formerly Known as Wrigley Field.

Z is going to come through tonight. I'm not worried.

Last night sucked, but I sucked it up, watched, tried to analyze what was going wrong, and digested it overnight.

I guess I should also add that I am much more into events I'm attending. If Game 5 ends up happening, I imagine I'll be just as bad in Sec. 301 as anyone.

Really? If we win 2 playoff games and its game 5, I'm going to be sky high. I bet the crowd is completely different too. The crowd is just waiting to see a sign of life before they can calm down and enjoy this. Is it fair to the players? no. But I understand where the crowd is coming from.

I mean that I'll be crazy into it, like I imagine you were. Whether that's a positive or a negative depends on how the game would go.

Not necessarily, but I think that playing tight has contributed to the overall suckiness in the Cubs playoff appearances the last couple years.

What would convince you that they are sufficiently loose? They grew out beards. That's kinda kooky.

They didn't have home field advantage last year and were dreadful. It's not about playing tight, it's about playing poorly.
