I don't understand why people are acting like jerks towards this guy for just passing along information. It's not his fault some of you people believed posters over at the OH for having inside information, even though they were wrong over and over again.

It's not sure much as being jerks towards him, it's about how he's gotten his info. Still kinda burned from the whole Brian Roberts disaster.

Gary's not some dbag poster.

I poked fun at how he got the info, not who he is. Called that being cyncial about all big names trades after what happen in the Roberts trade discussion.

So if he thought I poked fun at him, then I apologize, I meant no harm. I was trying to poked fun at how he got it.

It sounds like Peavy might consider blocking a trade to the Braves if Escobar is included in the deal. Peavy wants to be on a contender next season, and doesn't want them to lose their starting SS I guess(or any other major piece). If this is true, it could be a big plus to the Cubs, because Escobar is probably the main piece the Braves are offering.

Levine was just on not too long ago, took this from another board:

.Levine believes that a deal is close with either ATL or CHC

.He believes that the Braves won't give up their best prospects to acquire Peavy because they're not in a win situation

.Peavy would be a "hedge" for Ryan Dempster

.The Cubs will want both Dempster and Peavy

.What Dempster wants: 4 years 46-50 million

.Dempster doesn't have ace stuff (durr)

.He believes the Cubs would entertain having Kerry Wood back if he signed a 1 or a 2 year deal after they resigned Dempster and acquired Peavy otherwise bye bye Wood

Said he expects ATL or CHC by Monday.

Peavy also said he would block a trade to the Cubs because he know they'll go 162-0 but get swept in the first round of the playoffs.

It seemed as though you addressed the situation with your usual careful consideration and research.

Sounds like Jake just wants to play for us if this is true. If he's looking at playing for a contender and it's between Atlanta and the Cubs, then it's a no-brainer.

Somewhat unrelated, but I like how I keep hearing Marshall or Harden mentioned as an either/or scenario. The padres are building for the future or else they wouldn't be trading Peavy in the first place. What good would Harden do for them?
