I'm constantly amazed at the stupidity of the major sports when it comes to broadcasting. This "TBS gets all the first round games so they have to cram 3 games per day" thing is pretty dumb, though I think the NFL's "we're going to let a network that hasn't aired a single NFL game all year carry the Super Bowl" takes the cake

Huh? When did that happen? (The NFL thing)

when ABC had it a couple of years ago

ABC was still doing MNF a couple years ago, and their entire production staff is essentially run by the same people at ESPN. I don't see how that is a problem.

ha ha ha, woops. You know what I was thinking of? FOX doing the BCS games in college football. Sorry, not enough coffee this morning.

Ok...you had me really confused.

Anyways, the point is that every sport makes terrible decisions with their broadcasting because all they can see are $$$$$. Sell the rights to the highest bidder, quality be damned. The FOX college football thing is especially terrible, as you suddenly have commentators and analysts who haven't done a college game all year covering the most important games of the season. Fan favorites like Gus Johnson, Brad Nessler and Kirk Herbstreit are blocked out of the best games, etc.

A very simple solution is to have Series A play one day game followed by one night game in the first two games while Series B plays a night game followed by a day game in the first two games played. These yahoo's really dropped the ball by having one series play two consecutive day games on weekdays.

day game after a night game is hardly an ideal solution

Wednesday is Rosh Hashanah, so I miss an afternoon game. But the Cubs are 0-8 in playoff games west of here, so I am not sure I want the Dodgers and night games either.

In '84 we lost a home playoff game because they wanted to play them at night.

Now they want us to play them in the daytime.

Load of friggin' Howry. Right down the gullet. But I don't think day games are going to hurt us any, so I can't complain from a baseball standpoint. I just would like to watch these damn games. Should I take off work to watch baseball? Crap.

I think this is a common misconception...

It's a myth that the Cubs lost a NLCS home date (they were due to not have home field anyway, as in those days it was rotated between divisions, and the NL East had had home field in 1983), but they would indeed have lost a home date had they won the NLCS.

This must be a tentative schedule... There's no way the Cubs and Mets play two 12:30 games.

I would think they'd want those two teams in primetime. However, if Philly/LA plays the other series, they could also want that west coast audience getting a later time slot.

Absolutely not true. The Cubs would have lost a WS game if they made it. But the NLCS was 2 games at the East winner, 3 at the West regardless of who made it.

The way I look at it is that they figure that the Mets and the Cubs would have higher TV ratings in any time slot. If they played Rays-White Sox at 12:30, the game might not even sell out, let alone have any decent TV ratings at all. Hell, that might have lower ratings than Dr. Phil or whatever is on that time of day. TBS figures that they'll get the night time ads sold regardless of the teams, but having 2 huge markets playing during the day might help them bump up their ad prices for a mid-afternoon game.

I'm pissed off about the times, but some of you have been acting like TBS started scheduling day baseball games when they took over the broadcast rights. Ever since the 3 division format started there have been weekday day baseball games. I've seen the White Sox, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Cardinals, Astros, and even our Cubs have to play weekday day baseball (remember Game 1 of the 1998 NLDS?) .

I was more upset that we got the bad luck of the draw than upset that there is day baseball for the playoffs. If you don't like it and want to complain, fine. But no one was complaining about day playoff baseball last year when the Rockies and Phillies played all 3 of their games during the day.

In the past, if I remember right, they've had one game starting about 3 on both Fox and ESPN with one night game for the weekday games. This makes it much easier for more people to watch.

I think I'm going to schedule a lot of "meetings" downtown during these two games.

I think I'm going to schedule a few "meetings" at Bar Louie in the CWE.

I walked by there today and they had a sign out that said "$5 buckets of AB products all day."

That can't be right. But I think I'm going to find out.

I've been there before. I watched the Cardinals tee off on Z there in August. Not many Cardinals fans there suprisingly. I love the couches you can relax on and watch the game.

Wow. Umm, go brewers.

Seriously. This friggin blows. I may not even be able to work because I have classes and i absolutely cannot miss my thursday class anymore. I already got forced into missing some classes this semester cause my girlfriend was in the hospital.

Screw you, TBS.

Thanks for the correction. I was laboring under the misconception they took a home game away from us because we didn't have lights.

doesnt the team with the best record get to choose the schedule they want

???

TV stations control everything.

Nah, in the league that wins the ASG, the team with the best record chooses between schedule A or B.

Beginning last year, the Commissioner awarded the team with the best record in the All-Star Game-winning league the opportunity to choose whether it wants to play the eight-day ALDS (opening on Wednesday, Oct. 1 this year), or a seven-day ALDS (beginning on Thursday, Oct. 2).

I like the day games. The sooner they play each day, the better. It keeps the anxiety levels in check.

I feel like this as well, but only when I don't have class that day. On weekends or days off, I like day games, but I have school next week, so, not so good.

At least I'll only miss at most an hour of Games 1 and 2 if we play NY. I feel sorry for some of you guys in the Midwest or, even worse, the West Coast. :(
