Everyone on Brewerfan agreeing that Wood threw a nasty pitch to end the game.

Some are arguing high, but really that pitch was right down the middle, belt high.

It was a nasty pitch.

If ever there were such a thing as a "gutsy call", it was that. If Prince were looking slider, that thing might still be in the air. I'll take it, though.

For the record, I don't think going to Shouse in the 8th was necessarily the wrong call (and damn Reed Johnson for swinging at ball 4 twice and taking strike 3). The only RH PH options off the bench when DeRosa and Cedeno are both playing are Blanco, Koyie Hill and McGehee. I half expected Lou to put Zambrano in to PH.

Yeah, its hard for Prince to look slider in a full count situation, great pitch by Wood. All you can do is tip your hat.

Shouse shouldnt pitch against rightys, but I figured he could get Blanco out (not trying to be a jerk).

And Reed Johnson should of walked, the ump was brutal.

Speaking of brutal, I am seeing a lot of Brewers fans giving Fielder hell for taking that pitch.

If not for him, there's no drama at all.

Yeah well, what is Fielder suppose to do? No way you look for that pitch in that situation, because if he did look for that it probably would of been a 7-5 game.

Ballsy pitch by Wood, and it worked out.

Got exactly what I wanted with giving Sabathia his first loss in the NL.

That's what I'm saying. Of all the people to blame for that loss, Prince should have been the last. I think a lot of Brewers fans are just coming unglued, which is understandable.

Fielder jawed throughout the game with Chicago fans behind the Brewers’ dugout, who taunted him by calling him “Cecil,” a reference to his father, with whom he’s estranged. As he rounded the bases on a monster two-run homer in the sixth off Ryan Dempster, Fielder shouted back at those fans.

“When they don’t say my name, that (makes me mad) a little bit,” he said. “That’s not my name. Say my name.”

Question for journalism majors. Why is that part in brackets? Whenever I see this in a quote, I assume that those are words the player didn't actually say, but implied. But if he doesn't say that part in the bracket, the sentence makes no sense.

They sometimes do that when the quote is not fit to print. Maybe he said "that pisses me off a little bit". Doubt they would print that but need the reader to understand what he is saying so they fill in something more acceptable and put it in brackets so you know it is an edit.

They are definitely pressing. That quote shouldn't piss him off. Heckling is part of the agme.

I want the Brewers to get their crap together (after this series) and edge into the playoffs. Now their top 2 pitchers don't scare me.

Not only that but our players feel comfortable in their home park. It's honestly like having two home parks.

Yeah, he definitely said "pisses me off". I've seen that brackety stuff used before to cover obscenities, most often in Sports Illustrated.

Yeah really, how many pissed off people express their emotions by saying "That really makes me mad!"?

The Cubs were making me mad prior to the recent St. Louis series.

But now I'm feeling more glad ...

Oh man that's awesome about Cecil getting mad.

I wish I could sit behind that dugout, pretty sure I'd call him worse things than that and hope he said something back. It's always awesome when you know you can get to a professional player. If I was making hundreds of thousands OR millions of dollars people could call me WHATEVER they like :)
