McGowan is done for the season with ankle surgery. That means Danieal Manning will get time at nickel.

Thank God, McGowan is probably my least favorite Bear. He has been garbage since he has gotten here. Remember that Steve Smith playoff game? Well, that was Brandon McGowan chasing him around on a few of those long plays. That was his rookie season and he's sucked since. Makes a ton of penalties on special teams and generally sucks as a DB. To think they traded Chris Harris because they were confident in Adam Archuleta and Brandon McGowan is ridiculous. Terrible decisions by Lovie and Jerry.

McGowan was very good on ST though.

IIRC, he has had a few ST penalties and I'm really getting sick of having good returns called back. But you're right, he was doing some good things on ST as well.

He has had numerous penalties on ST, including 2 last week. The guy is garbage. Besides, unless it is Ayanbadejo, it is very difficult to see if a guy is good on ST unless he makes a ton of tackles. You must really watch the games in depth...

Your blind hatred for McGowan has clouded your memory. Brandon McGowan did not play in that playoff game. And I only remember 2 or 3 long plays to Steve Smith. One was when Tillman fell down and Mike Brown was giving chase. Another was Chris Thompson getting molested and Mike Green giving chase. There may have been 1 more big play, but I don't recall it. I do recall McGowan NOT playing though. The Bears safeties that day were Mike Brown, Mike Green, Todd Johnson, and Chris Harris. McGowan only played in 05 at the end of the season because Mike Brown was hurt.

Ah, thanks. Chris Thompson must have been the person I replaced in my memory with McGowan. Regardless, he sucks.

Well, he's gone now so hopefully someone else steps up.

Devin Hester says he has a "a little torn cartilage" in his rib area and is starting to feel better, but the Bears Pro Bowl returner didn't want to speculate about his status for Sunday.

"I'm feeling a lot better so I'm hoping by the end of the week I'll have no pain or nothing like that," Hester said Thursday.

Also,

Rookie tackle Chris Williams has a helmet on today and appears set for limited participation in pratice. That would be a big step for Williams, who has been sidelined since training camp following back surgery.

Chris is going to come back and be the dominant LT we all hoped he would be. Come on now people, power of positive thinking.

After week 1 I said I'd be all in on the Bears if they won in Carolina. The loss took some of the air out of the balloon, but I still have higher hopes for them than I did all offseason. But this is really a must win game if I'm going to keep any faith. If they can't beat Tampa, I don't think they can handle Philly, and then they'd be looking at 1-3.

Tampa does nothing great, but they are good enough in most areas to win, but it's still a game that a contending Bears team would have to win.

A couple guys on ESPN said Hester is "out" for the Bucs game, so I googled it and could find no such proclamation. Although I'm sure the Bears will play it close to the vest regardless. So I'm a bit confused on Devin's actual status, which is probably exactly the way Lovie wants it.

Rotoworld says he has bruised ribs, not cartilage problems...but I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit. You can get hit pretty hard returning punts and kicks.

As for this game, I think we can win if our defense carries the day. Hard to expect anything against the TB defense, which I would say is a notch below ours.

It'll come down to Forte and the D forcing turnovers.

Bears, 21-17

What's Adams' deal anyway? How long is he out?

He's not on the injury report and I don't believe he's hurt. He has just been inactive so far this season.

That was fast...

Boy, the WBBM780.com feed is like 3 minutes behind. Had to pause my DirecTV feed for quite a while to have it catch up.

It's not working for me. Some chick talks then the sound goes dead.
