wouldnt it be wildly inaccurate to base it on preseason?

Actually, it's more wildly inaccurate to base it completely on results so far. Statistical projections also aren't perfect, but it's better than the idea that the Falcons are the second best team in the league simply because they looked good against the Lions.

true, but I guess I thought there might be some way to extrapolate from last year. preseason is a horrible barometer

I think you misunderstand. They aren't using statistics based on preseason data, they put together statistical projections for the year based on the prior year, similar to PECOTA for baseball. That's what they use as a factor until week 8.

Why is the worst game on the slate the national game? Effffff.

And why the hell does the desert in SE California and SW Arizona get the Bears and Panthers? Didn't realize there were that many Bears and Panthers fans in Palm Springs and Yuma.

I was trying to figure out that last part as well.

Giants are SB champs (and have a huge following), while STL has been a decent draw over the past decade and was expected to contend this year.

What you should be complaining about is what CBS is offering up at the same time, Oakland/KC for half the country.

I'm not going to complain about getting Oakland because, despite only a quarter of the people in this area (a guess on my part) being Raiders fans, we'll get every Raiders game no matter what. Sucks for everyone else that has to watch two of the worst AFC teams battle.

I'll be at a sports book somewhere watching all the games. I'm sure I can find one of those somewhere in Vegas.

Burned out on Vegas my ass.

I was wondering that too. I know many areas not in an NFL market can choose the game they want so for some reason they chose this. I remember the last few years, almost every single week Mississippi had the Packers game because of Favre.

I'm there for work. My work will be done at 9:58am on Sunday morning. I don't drive home from Vegas on Sundays, thus, I have 2 minutes to get to the sports book.

Who thought the rams would contend? They have very little talent and an awful coach. The thought of that team winning more than 5 games is absurd.

Fred Miller is back for a one year deal.

He said he was playing on a bad ankle last year and was maybe at 40 or 50 percent. He says he's about 90 percent now after getting spurs removed, and will probably never be at 100 percent.

Lovie says he had no idea.

At least he'll be a backup, not a starter. But he'll probably get rotated in there on occasion.

Lay his jersey on the field, hope they trip over it.

How is Carolina against the run? If they pack the line and can cover the WR's one on one can your QB beat them?

If the pass rush is good, I have my doubts Orton would be able to consistently beat Carolina deep to the WRs. However, the strength of the Bears passing game is looking more and more like it is the TE's and possibly the RB's out of the backfield, so covering the WRs is probably not going to have the desired effect since the Bears don't *appear* to be looking for a lot of deep passes to WRs right now. And I don't see many LBs being able to cover Greg Olson 1 on 1. Dez is quite capable of getting open too.

This is based off one game though, so it's not a real clear picture.

But if the WR's are taken care of that lets the safety's slide up and help with the TE and Rb on passes. NFL teams change a lot but isn't Carolina's D pretty athletic still?

Considering the leading tackler last week for Carolina was Chris Harris, it appears that its possible to get into their backfield. when safeties lead in tckling #'s, typically your DL and LB's are getting hammered.

But judging from one game would be a mistake. Its really hard to tell how good they are, except last year they were ok, ranking around 16
