Are these passwords in any way linked to the address of the person who was selected in the lottery? I guess what I'm asking is do they check to make sure the addresses match, or could someone hypothetically use another person's password?

I will let you know in a few days. I bought a password off of craigslist this morning and then bought tickets. I selected 'fed-ex shipping' so if they arrive in my mailbox I will certainly inform everyone.

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the password?

I paid $175.

So my two bleacher tix cost me $156 with all the fees and shipping included. All in all I paid $331 for the pair. ($175 password + $156 to the Cubs box office)

Definitely much better than the $800/pair you're probably looking at for 2 bleachers.

Hopefully this works. I think it will. As far as I know, once the tickets are sold, the Cubs don't give a sh!t who bought them.

I'd hope. But, I thought I remembered they said the name you signed up for with the raffle was supposed to match the credit card...hopefully no trouble comes up.

ummmm.....how would I do that without giving my password to the world....

If it's a number and/or letter combination, then it's unique. If it's something like "chicago," then it would be generic.

its a 7 digit code consisting of random letters and numbers

Will you post it once you're able to get your tickets?

Were you seriously asking for somebody's password so you could try and get tickets and then re-sell them?

I hear ya, but its worth the shot. Because if this works then it just confirms my suspicion that as long as you have a winning password then you can buy tickets. This way I will know if it's worth my time to register a plethora of NLCS emails so that I can get tickets for that series and then (fingers crossed) the World Series.

My ex-girlfriend is from New York and her dad is a huge Yankees fan so back in February when the Mets had their ticket lottery for premium games i.e. Yankees/Opening Day/Last game at Shea, I bought a password from a guy on ebay and was able to get Mets/Yankees tickets doing this. I used the print-at-home feature and the tickets were good and valid.

I'm definitely praying that this works for the Cubs as well. If it does, then it certainly will be beneficial for all of us on the board to create multiple email addresses for the NLCS registration. I'm pretty sure the scalpers do this anyways.

Check that, I know 100% that the scalpers create countless emails for these premium drawings. Look at this auction. This scalper was offering 8 different passwords for $399 each and was able to sell 3 of them before the on-sale this afternoon. When you figure that maybe 4-5 people won on this board, it becomes blatantly clear that all this broker did was register hundreds, if not thousands of different email addresses.

More than 800 a pair...the cheapest bleachers on stubhub are 471 each.

Yessir. I didn't know if there was one specific password for each person, or if it was just a general password that everyone received.

I would think you will be fine. A friend of mine paid for the tickets and our addresses don't match and I've already printed my tickets....

Until you show up at Wrigley, they scan your tickets at the gates, then the alarm goes off and the snipers take aim.

I mean, I'm sure it'll be fine. Enjoy the game!

Cubs email details how they prevent more than 2 tickets:

Thank you for your order!

Each customer will be allowed to purchase one (1) order of up to two (2) tickets on Sept. 23rd. This limit is imposed by customer, household, phone #, credit card and e-mail address. All orders that exceed this limit will be cancelled automatically. Internet customers that use computer based scripting language will have all potential orders cancelled

If I registered for division series tickets and didn't win, do I have to re-register for NLCS tickets?

No, you are automatically re-registered, regardless of whether you won or not.

FYI, still some bleachers out at craigslist for $300 each. I'm really really tempted. But if the buying the password thing works, that would be $ well spent for the NLCS.

the real question is CAN you register for the NLCS

because if so, i will be registering a crapload of emails... what do i have to lose, my 1/50000000000 chance that i would've otherwise had?

Good question.

To anyone who's reading this and who won, did you register with just one address or multiple?

I'd hold off. Last year the ticket prices went down after starting out extremely high.

Personally, I wouldn't throw that kind of money around at craigslist. Though unlikely, it's a fact that counterfeit tickets do exist and get sold every year. I'd stick with Stubhub or ebay (where at least you can see feedback ratings and you have some recourse if problems come up).

I have bought Cubs tickets on craigslist before and been fine. But that's like $100 - $200 max. I could live with it if I happened to get screwed. But $600 would make me very, very angry.

I guess it comes down to how confident you are that you can spot a counterfeit ticket. I'm definitely not $600 confident . . .

I just registered a new e-mail address a few minutes ago.

As far as them canceling orders, not that it really applies in these cases, but my brother and I each got through when Cubs Red Sox tickets went on sale, and each bought 6 (the max) to the Saturday game. They cancelled both our orders.
