Don't look now, but BigbadB is still alive in the suicide pool. And it's getting awful lonely after week 1. Too bad New England won, or it would have been a really great day to have picked the Bears. Of course, all these Charger fans here in San Diego are pouting and looking for a new suicide pool.

Awesome game. Great D. I think we found our running back. I was impressed with Orton's poise.

Yeah, would have been quite a day for suicide pools had New England, Indy, Jacksonville and San Diego all lost week 1.

Forte looked pretty darn good last night, except for that one play where my buddy nearly killed him

Yea cheap shotting with helmets has a tendency to knock people out of the game for a play or 2.

I'm almost positive I saw Briggs and Mike Brown have similar plays.

They hit hard, but didn't lead with there helmuts.

whoever cleaned Addai's clock lead with the helmet, didn't they?

Yup

Retaliation.

oh, well then it's fine then

YOU BETCHA DAGNABBIT.

John St. Clair needs to stop playing football.

That was maybe the toughest matchup he will see all season, outside of Jared Allen (twice). Still he was pretty weak pass blocking. He did ok in the preseason against weaker DEs.

Forte....stud. He really highlights how horrible Benson was. Great job hitting the holes, and making something out of nothing. The cutback to the left side when the hole closed on that one play was even more impressive than the 51yd TD run to me.

Forget just Benson, how about A-Train, Enis and Salaam before him. Better vision, good burst. As raw said, Forte doesn't need a hole, he needs a seam.

probably helps that he wasn't a training camp hold out like those guys were

Probably, but he still had a run longer than any Benson had in 3 years. You can blame rookie seasons on training camp holdouts...but not subsequent seasons.

true, but it's never good to start your career holding out and missing camp.

I knew they were going to win all along.

But seriously, that is not at all what I was expecting. I let myself dream about the possibility of a win, but the only way I saw one as possible was if they pulled it out of their butts on a freak play or two. I did not see them coming close to that level of domination.

I was wrong about Forte. I thought he looked to be a Benson clone with his running style but I was wrong. He looked better than Benson yesterday. I would've liked to see Orton throw more passes but he looked ok and did a good job managing the game. He had 2 passes that I saw that looked great. I think one was to Olsen. The biggest surprise of the game though goes to the Indy line. Considering they had rookies and undrafted players at the C and both G positions I thought they did an excellent job stopping the blitz and for the most part protecting Manning.

I don't think they did an excellent job. They did alright, but teams don't stop the Bears' blitz packages, Bears blitzers stop their own blitz package by running right into blockers. They suck at the blitz. They did protect Manning well enough though, as their trouble with the passing game looked to me to be mostly about Peyton not throwing well at all.

I didn't have a huge problem with St. Clair. I'm glad they kept him at left tackle and Tait at right. At least in that situation, Tait is a good enough right tackle to not hurt the team, whereas he wasn't a good LT at all. St. Clair is a mediocre lineman, but he's not completely incompetent. They just need to give him help all season.

All St. Clair had to do was hold off Freeney long enough for Orton to get off the short pass. The first two series of downs worried me, as Orton was missing badly, but he became much more accurate after that. That was one of my keys to the Bears winning this game. They had to control Indy's defense with short passes. Anything else was just going to be a bonus, and Orton did give us a few bonuses hitting Clark and Lloyd downfield.

All I can say is lol @ the colts DT's. They are the size of TE's. It will be a long day for them agains Minny who has a study oline.

Shantae said the same thing last night, akekekeke.

Is it just me or does it sound like there are a lot of Bears fans at the game in Indy?

i just assumed that colts fans were doing the cheering because they don't know what's going on.

I thought that too. Earlier, when Forte scored a TD, there was a lot of cheering. A WTF moment for me.

I'm way late on this, but I'm guessing a lot of people made their way from Cincy after today's Cubs game to the Bears game. The trip takes you right through Indianapolis and the timing was perfect. Would be an easy thing to plan out.

There were lots and lots of Cubs fans in Cincy...the souvenir stands outside the park were selling more Cubs stuff than Reds stuff. And the interstate was like a literal convoy after the game.

Good call. I'll bet that is what happened. I try to double my sports enjoyment if I can. The last time I was in Chicago for Cubs games, the Bears were playing a preseason game and I did just that.

You're right. Indy is only a 90 minute drive and the Cubs game ended at 3. I wish I would have thought about that. 2 games, 2 spots, 2 cities, both as the road team. Would have been fun (except the Cubs losing)

wow i did not see this one coming. the bears are not who i thought they were.
Dennis Green begs to differ. :D

Still great to watch, just one more time.

Maybe ol' Denny thought we would be the Colts. "They're STILL who we thought they were!"

nope. look again, briggs blew him up with his shoulder, no helmet contact whatsoever.

i looked for that, because if i'm going to complain about bob sanders, there's no way that i can condone any of our players doing the same thing.

How did Freeney look Sunday?

I could have sworn I saw a Bears leading with his helmet and I thought it was that play, but I could have been mistaken.

I've heard the following gems the last two days (among others):

1. The Bears where attempting to intentionally injure Peyton Manning.

2. Freeney was being held and tackled all night ("But I'm so proud of him for not fighting or arguing. Just shows what a class act he is.")

3. Particularly enjoying the secretary in our office who chastised all Bears fans as sore losers because there weren't very many at the airport to welcome them back after the SB loss ("That just wouldn't happen here, we love our team.") saying she turned off this game in the 3rd quarter because the Colts were playing so bad. In it through thick and thin, I see.

I know there are people like this in all fan bases. I'm just exposed to the Colts fans because of where I live and I'm soaking this one in because I'm still bitter about the abuse I took after the Super Bowl.

I like Indianapolis Colts fans. They are just really getting into this football thing. They were so bad for so long and never really had a huge fanbase because of bitterness from the Baltimore situation (those fans didn't follow the team after the move). I liken it to the Brewers. They don't have much of a history so they are just getting into this fanatical trash talking stuff.

Colts fans have definitely gotten behind their team. I don't envision them entirely jumping ship either if things get down for a few years now that they've gotten into it. The succes the team has had the last 6-7 years is fantastic and really rare in the NFL anymore. I think they're just accustomed to winning at this point and go into full meltdown and the slightest sign of failure.
