Parra not Bush

Len mentioned on the telecast tonight that Bush was going Thursdsy instead of Parra.

CHICAGO -- New Brewers manager Dale Sveum didn't waste any time making changes.

Among Sveum's moves Tuesday, when he took the reigns from Ned Yost for the remaining 12 games of the season:

• He bounced left-hander Manny Parra from the rotation after a series of inconsistent starts. Right-hander Dave Bush moved up a day and will start Thursday's series finale in Chicago on short rest, and long reliever Seth McClung will rejoin the rotation to start Friday in Cincinnati.

Haha, I know Parra's been bad lately, but making Dave Bush pitch on short rest doesn't seem like the answer.

Please win tonight! Tomorrow game has all the makings of a clinch, and I'm going!!!

The Brewers were off Monday, so I don't think it's short rest.

I wonder if it's worth the trouble to find the brewerfan thread where they made fun of me for saying on NSBB that Parra was "Sean Marshall without the MLB success".

As someone who was convinced the Brewers were overrated all along and thought the Cubs might beat them by 10 games, there's a lot of threads I'd like to dig up.

Were you the one posting the run differentials earlier in the season? Were you at least nervous when the Brewers tied up the Cubs in July?

Good call, I was convinced the Cubs were/are better than the Brewers however, I did not think they'd possibly win the Central by 10 games. Interestingly, Stone Stone was calling for this all along, saying the Cubs would the Central by 8+ games in March and after the trade for CC.

No, I was not one bit nervous or concerned about the Brewers, even in July.

Yes. But not because I changed my mind about the relative difference in the teams, but because the better team isn't guaranteed to win over a three-month season.

I'm still nervous about the Brewers until we clinch but that's because I'm a very irrational sports fan.

so you're saying you still need the original title, eh?

btw...99.89% chance the Cubs win the division.

I goto this site called sportsclubstats that calculates a teams odds of making the playoffs at different finishes to the season. Right now if the Cubs lose out, the site has them at a 94.5% chance of making the playoffs.

Look how far we've come...

9 games to go

If Cubs go 0-9, Brewers need to go 9-0 to force a tie

If Cubs go 1-8, Brewers are eliminated

:yahoo:

FALSE

Cubs have 10 games left

If Cubs go 0-10, Brewers need to go 8-0 to force a tie

If Cubs go 1-9, Brewers are eliminated

Doesn't look all that likely that they'll be playing more than 9 games.

As we just established in our AIM chat:

mikeak21 (AF) (10:23:37 PM): we're not gonna have to play that game in HOU on the 29th are we?

UMfan83 (10:24:29 PM): nope

LMAO!

But we'll still need 10 games if the Cubs lose 9 and the Brewers win 8. You still have to include it in the equation even if its nearly impossible that 10th game will be played.

So I guess we should add, if the Cubs win 1 game, they will play only 161 games.

Bah, who cares...

Lets just win tomorrow and clinch!

Well, if the Phillies and Brewers choke it away while the Astros win out, we'd still have to play it. Though it would be the Iowa Cubs playing it.
