Hopefully the Pirates have a mildly patient inning and get CC over 100 pitches through 6. He has 85 through 5.

How many pitches can they conceivably let him throw? 130?

It's amazing Yost sees no problem with usage.

He knows that they're not going to have him next year. Mine as well get your money's worth.

That's fine and all, but doesn't he realize what the high PC did to CC's playoff performance last year?

If Yost doesn't get MIL to the playoffs this year, he probably gets canned.

I think he's more concerned with just making it. Cross the playoff bridge when you get there.

Hey, I agree.

But it's Ned Yost. Many of his decisions have been downright Dusty-esque.

He's the single biggest reason that I don't fear the Brewers. I hope he's there for a long time.

Running up his PC, late in games, with large leads doesn't make it anymore likely that they get there.

DeRosa struck out swinging

Hosed.

Agreed. It still amazes me how catchers and home plate umps still deferred to umpires that are ver 90 ft away (1st and 3rd) to say if a batter went or not. If the home plate ump can't tell if a batter went, then I guarantee you, the first base ump (in this case) can't tell. The first base ump took a guess, cause DeRo did not swing.

Harden is dealing again today.

I don't like it when his pitch count gets north of 100, however.

I'm sure Lou will really "shorten him up" his next start.

I'm okay with him doing it every now and then. Once he starts to throw more, then getting to and going a little over 100 is fine. That, and he hasn't been exactly struggling out there today.

CUBS are 47-18 when their starter throws more pitches than the opponent.... 29-31 when they throw fewer pitches than the opponent.... 3-1 when the pitch counts are even.
