they've looked decent, but the Tigers need to shore up the pass protection. the Illini have gotten into the backfield pretty quickly on several plays

Yeah, I don't disagree. But they didn't sack Chase once though so it's not a huge deal.

I didn't expect Arkansas to have to come back to beat Western freaking Illinois. Looks like it was youth that nearly did them in: a ton of drops (Dick still completed 60% for over 300 yards :blink:), busted coverages, and poor tackling. Keep in mind the Hogs lost their ENTIRE starting secondary and linebacking corps from last year. That is insane. Starting RB Michael Smith getting suspended for the game didn't help, either.

 

On the plus side, Greg Childs got off, with 5 catches for 82 yards and a TD. Not bad for a freshman in his first game when he didn't even start.

 

Arkansas is tremendously inexperienced and young. They will get much better this season. Unfortunately for them, the schedule only gets tougher.

 

In other news, ASU BEAT A&M!!!!! I mean, it's probably more meaningful for A&M, but it's a big freaking deal for the...the...Red Wolves. (they just changed names this offseason.)

i've been telling people that juice is going to step up this year and be a very good passer AND rusher.

 

unfortunately, i've also been telling people that the illini defense is going to be good as well.
