Looks like the Brewers will actually be tested the next 4 days. Peavy today, and the Dodgers the next 3. Im expecting them to go 2-2 or 1-3 in that stint, so people can finally stop commending them for tearing through horrible teams.

Peavy has allowed 3 earned runs or less in his last 4 starts including a game at Colorado. Unfortunatly the Padres offense gave him no support and they lost 3 of those 4. I think that the Brewers will be able to scrape together a few runs and win again, especially with Sheets on the mound.

Hopefully someone on the Padres can realize that hitting is a part of baseball, and avoid the sweep.

Brewers have given up a total of 12 runs during their 8 game winning streak....someone needs to start swinging the bats.

BTW, Peavy's ERA at Petco is something like 1.76 this year.

Nice to see the Brewers facing an actual pitcher. At least the Fathers have a fighting chance in this one. Sheets has been pretty unimpressive lately outside of this start against the hapless Nats.

If the Cards lose a couple more we might have to put the Stros on here. They are within 4.5 of them. Although I guess maybe we should just drop the cards from this if that happens.

Uhh yeah, it was hilarious enough when people were following the Astros earlier in the year. Following them now when they're about 28 games behind us is just nonsensical.

Although so is following the Cards.

I wonder if the Mets fans were following the Phillies this time last year.

We finish like the Mets did and we won't have to worry about the Stros. We will be too busy watching the Crew and Cards in the playoffs.

The Phillies weren't as bad as 7.5 games out of first after early June last year. And last year's Phillies team was better than this year's Cardinals. And this year's Cubs team is better than last year's Mets team.

[scott G.F.]Hey the Astros are only 8.5 behind in the Wild Card. If they string together a few wins, combined with a few Brewers losses, they're right back in it! [/scott G.F.]

Cubs fans as a whole really are a paranoid breed. We wont feel completely comfortable until that magic number is at 0. Santo is a perfect example. We can be up by 5 with 2 out and 0 on in the 9th, and the 3rd batter walks, he starts to panic.

The Brewers end their streak of 9 games vs last place teams I believe, it'd be real awesome if at the end of it they are still 4.5 games out but even if it's 2.5 games out the fact that the Cubs still have a couple game lead after the Brewers have played this stretch of games is a really good thing.

I'm sure they were. The Phillies were 3 games out last year on this date.

I keep following the Cardinals because they are pretty much the only viable way the Cubs could possibly miss the playoffs (and even that's slim). I'm not worried about them though...I follow them more for curiosity sake than anything.

I don't blame him in the slightest. Santo's seen it happen time after time, as a player and as a broadcaster. He has the right to be paranoid.

LOL @ the Brewers lineup:

Durham

Counsell

Nix

Fielder

Hart

Hall

Cameron

Kendall

Sheets

Wow if I was Sheets I'd be super pissed they threw me that lineup against Peavy

Of course they still will score 7 runs, regardless

It is pretty considerate of them to stoop to the Padres level. They were going to do the same for the Nationals for 1 game, but they didnt have room on the 40 man for enough of their Single A players.
