I'm pretty pumped. I've been sending questions to ESPN.com chats for years now, but I finally got a questioned answered today by Keith Law:

Tony (Chicago): With his recent tear, does Josh Vitters seem likely to still reach his 30 HR potential?

SportsNation Keith Law: (2:22 PM ET ) Yes.

OK, so it wasn't the most riveting conversation but oh well.

Maybe next time, Keith will toss two whole words your way.

I've had a few questions answered in BA chats over the past few years. The first one, in early 2006 I believe, was about Ryan Harvey and questioning why he wasn't in their top 100 prospect list. Needless to say a few more years of mediocrity has soured me on his supposed high upside.

One thing I like about Josh Vitters is that he seems to be a near exact opposite type of prospect. Harvey was a lot about physical tools. He was a supposed 40 homer threat with solid defense for a man of his size. Vitters on the otherhand is praised for being an excellent contact threat along the lines of Howie Kendrick. That projection, with more power, still doesn't ease the frustration of passing on Rick Porcello though. I'll take the ace pitcher over the 30 homer threat Third Baseman with serious defensive issues anyday.

If someday we find out signability played a major role in the Vitters pick there should be a significant amount of disappointment. Not willing to spend an extra three million seems silly when you pay 21 million for a glorified innings eater.

The Hoff hit number 21 in the 1st inning tonight for Iowa. Colvin is 1-2 with an RBI single so far for Tennessee as well.

Should we even wait to bring this guy up for Sep callups? He's been crazy good all year.

Re: Vitters

That's a few times now that I've seen people mention defensive issues with him. I don't understand where this is coming from.

That's the scouting report on him going into the season. He's done fine defensively this season though - I'll be surprised if he has to move from the position.

He's going to be the new Crash Davis. Speaking of.... How is Matt Craig doing?

I still think his upside is Aramis Ramirez II.

I'd love that.

.974 OPS in 61 ABs. He's only starting about half the games recently.

Poor Matt Craig.

I'd personally keep Hoff in LF or RF, Pie in CF and let Kroeger and Dubois fight over the rest of the OF time. Hoff can still spell Craig at 1B, but I don't think he's going to improve much by playing 1B in AAA, let him focus on the OF defense so he doesn't embarrass himself up there later on.

Dylan Johnston is off the Peoria DL and playing today. And he hit his 10th HR of the season.

We shouldn't. I want Hoff playoff roster eligible.
