I always wondered this....

In this situation with Dempster on deck and obviously going to stay in...the pitcher is obviously going to work around you to get to the 9 spot.

Would it ever make sense to intentionally expand your strike zone and swing at a possible bad pitch to bait the pitcher into giving you an actual AB? I am assuming it would make more sense if you are a better bad ball hitter.

Wow 2 outs in the basepaths this inning.

Anyone with some insight. I've always wondered this, and if its possible to intentionally swing at a wild pitch with 2 strikes and run to first.

Technically, yes. But extremely difficult to do.

lol this is getting kinda funny

looks like your year guys

I don't know if Carp was rushed back but he did look pretty good in all three starts.

And TLR has nothing on Dusty when it comes to burning arms.

I hope so, but we are the Cubs. I am waiting for the huge injury.

I wonder if TLR is hammering the arms this year as a way of saying to the front office, "hey, get me some more talent."

There has been a lot of talk like that on the STL boards. Like batting F Lopez 5th and playing him in LF. A big F U to ownership?

I can't imagine they'd risk Carpenter but they haven't handled injuries very well. Seems they end up screwing up a number of injuries ala Rolen.

Maybe the Cards can grab the wild card and make it a Cubs/Cards NLCS. We need one of those to elevate this rivalry back up to Yanks / Sox.

And the Cardinals are in Grand Slam range!!!!

Oh wait, no they aren't. Sorry, it's 5-0. Oh no, sorry. Extra run there. 6-1.

IT'S 6-0, BUT THX ANYWAY JOE.
