OMG stop trying to pull everything Geo!This guy isn't really throwing strikes.

All three of the pitches to Soto were over the plate and would have been strikes. Same as his last AB.

You can hit strikes the other way though, correct?

Geo is a straight pull hitter. I'd rather him not even swing at something away unless there's 2 strikes and he's just trying to fight it off.

A called strike is better than weak contact, which is generally what you get when you attempt to pull an outside pitch.

The complaint after his last AB (not by 98navigator) was that Geo should have taken pitches because the Pirates starter had just walked a guy. If Geo had taken the first two pitches he would have been in an 0-2 hole. This time around he sees three more strikes. What do you want him to do, just sit there and watch them.

And yes, I know you can hit the ball the other way. I was responding to the second part of navigator's post about the guy not really throwing strikes. That may be true with some of the other Cubs but he's been throwing strikes to Soto in the last two AB's.

They will still pull this out. Next inning the Cubs will get it started.

I would tend to share your optimism, so long as neither Marquis nor Howry is pitching the 7th.

The Pirates were a good offensive team. It's the pitching that blows.

If only the Cub offense knew that...

Fixed.

Sad, but true.

Worth it in the long run, I hope.

LOB was a bit of a worry in the brewer series but then we kept getting the 2 out hit. Guess it's one of those days we might get one more chance. If not it's been a pretty good 2 days for you jake!!

I'm dropping the Marquis bashing in favor of offense bashing now. Marquis hasn't been as good as I want him to be, but the O is driving me nuts right now.

He's pull happy, which is why his average has dropped steadily. There are a lot of basehits the other way.

There's a small part of me that wants the Cubs to come back only to prove the people who say the game is over already wrong (the rest of me just wants them to win because I want them to win)...but it wouldn't really matter because they've done it countless times before and people just keep saying the same stuff.

I guess I should just do a better job of not letting it bother me. [-(

I sure am happy with mediocre pitching. Yep.

Yet he's one out from a quality start.

I can't say that I'm happy with mediocre pitching. I'm just not mad about it either. That's kind of what mediocre is.

In a pennant race, mediocrity steams me up a little. I guess we're just different like that.

He's a 5th starter...

Jeff Karstens is out pitching him.

that's a silly point to make. the guy hasn't given up a run, so he'd be outpitching just about anybody at this point.

Admittedly, not my best argument.
