I don't feel confident about home games anymore after suffering through that Marlins series offensively and now this game. I need a jolt of confidence.

People should really worry less about the hitting when the runners are on and moreso about just getting runners on in general.

When you get more runners on, you get more opportunities to score, and you get more runs.

The Cubs lead the league in getting runners on base, and, wouldn't you know, lead the league in runs scored.

No one is arguing this.

When we're losing people consistently cite the numbers of runners stranded. It's baseball, it happens sometimes. Some days you just can't score. That's why in a 162 season, it's EXCELLENT to win 60% of games. I just don't get why people don't understand that. We just got off a huge series in which we won all 4 games and executed brilliantly. The chances of losing a game after that and not performing are pretty high.

Great post except for that last part...

The chances of losing a game after that and not performing are about as high or low as they are at any other time.

But they are complaining about stupid crap like our average today with RISP.

I should avoid game threads and so should you. I keep coming back to them as if I have no control though.

You're right. I just want to talk about the game, though. It's a damn catch 22... :banghead:

Dude, we are losing to the Pirates and people are bummed out about it. It's no big deal.

They aren't that bad of a team. There are far worse in baseball and even those teams win 40% of their games.

Is Thomas Ian Nicholas the little pitcher from Rookie of the Year?

Yes. He's also the guy who nailed Tara Reid in American Pie.

Well then. Man respect.

Well, he only nailed her in fiction...

Not that she's likely any great conquest in real life.

A Rookie Of The Year 2 would be awesome, where Henry is a drunk 28 year old that breaks his arm again and gets the gas back.

I'd take being the actor that fictionally nailed her.

Okay, great inning fellas. With that, I'm really off to booze this one away. Enjoy the evening, folks.

How do we know? They just traded off their 3 and 4 hitters along with their LH setup guy. Also, their number 5 hitter and starting SS are injured . We have no idea if they are good anymore.

If they do find a way to come back and win this one, they'd be at 22 over .500 for the first time since 89, right? They peaked out at 21 over in 2004, 15 over in 2003, 19 over in 2001, 20 over in 98, and didnt really sniff this level for the 9 years before that. Am I remembering this right?

And yet, even if they were monumentally bad, they'd still win around 40% of their games.

Pretty much.

Sh*t break has that one sitcom with the guy from Everybody Loves Raymond... That's all I can really think of.
