He picked the wrong day to do that. Harden has no platoon split, and he strikes out righties and lefties indiscriminately. He'll be going after Fielder regardless of who's behind him. Also, The Cubs have humiliated The Brewers in this series.

I dont know why you drop your best hitter to 5th.

This was my first reaction to that lineup. I really don't understand batting him there.

It's Yost.

Cleared that right up for me, thanks! :good:

I just pictured Yost sitting at a desk in a small room, a light bulb hanging from the ceiling swinging back and forth slowly, making this line-up. He's penciling in Ryan Braun in the 5 spot, the lead breaks off as he finishes the second 'n'... a wry smile appears on his face. Success.

I'm pretty sure this is how it went down, just as a thunderstorm rolled in. Also, great sig.

This is amazing to me. And the only loss by all rights shouldn't have been one.

Success.

Hitting Braun fifth seems to rank up there with platooning starting pitchers. Just because he hasn't looked great in the series is no reason to drop him to fifth IMO. I know he started the year batting cleanup but has he ever hit fifth this year?

I'm so glad Yost isn't managing the Cubs.

not this year no, And I dont think so ever in his career.

Bruan only has one career at bat in the fifth spot with a strike out. I don't understand this move at all.

Well that cinches it...Braun cannot even hit a ball batting 5th. This should increase our chances of winning.

As you can see from the calendar, the game is coming up this afternoon. I'm sure you are as excited for it as I am, as our cities are rivals and have been for quite some time. Your confidence in your team is high, but rest assured, you will suffer humiliation when the sports team from my area defeats the sports team from your area.

On numerous occasions, you have expressed the conviction that your area's sports team will be victorious. I must admit that every time I hear you make this proclamation, I react with both laughter and disbelief. "Ha!" I say to myself with laughter. "What?!" I say to myself in disbelief. How could you believe that your sports team could beat my sports team? It is clear that yours is inferior in every way.

When the sporting contest begins, the players on your team will be treated as though they are inconsequential. It will be remarkably easy for my team to accumulate more points than yours. There are many reasons for this, starting with the inferior physical attributes of the players representing your area. Strength, speed, and agility are just three of the qualities that the players on the team from your area lack. The players representing my area, on the other hand, have these traits in abundance.

Lol, I'm just saying this seems like a funny time for Yost to pull a move like this. Braun was moved to the three hole earlier this year because he felt more comfortable there and he has been mashing the ball ever since. Now after losing the first three against the team they are chasing they dropped him down to fifth. Just seems like a desperate move to try to get him going against Cubs pitching somehow.

I agree it's dumb...but is it worse than hitting Soto 8th?

Thanks, Bruce. Surprised to see Edmonds back in the lineup on get away day. I don't like Soto batting 8th.

Counsel batting second is classic. Why not just give Fielder and Braun a day off today rather than moving them down in the order.

I would not be a bit surprised if the individuals on the team from your area were sexually attracted to members of their own gender. That is how ineffective they are on the field of battle.

whatever happened to the "Kendall batting 9th" lineups?

After we got sweept in Boston, Yost changed it up and we started winning.

We started winning because our pitching came around not because our pitcher was batting 8th, It was actually working.

So a series with a DH made Yost change his mind about batting the pitcher 8th?
