That has to be one of the toughest doubling offs off all time.

hit and run, liner to LF, Soriano catches it and guns it to first but it short hops Lee, who has to recover and dive for the bag to get him

Can someone describe the double play? Was it a long fly or a liner? Shallow or deep?

Shallow line drive to Soriano. Weeks was running on the play. He had rounded 2nd base before he saw it was caught. He jogged back to 1st base. The throw got away from Lee a little bit, but he was able to pick it up and dive to touch first base. Weeks was jogging back to first base. Probably should have made it back.

Can someone describe what just happened? I have a feeling gameday isn't doing it justice.

Counsell lined a ball to left field that looked like it might get down with Weeks running on the play. Soriano caught it and Weeks had already passed second, had to re-tag, and get back to first. The throw got passed Lee who went to the ground, got the ball in his barehand, and crawled to first, to force out Weeks.

Shallow liner to left with Weeks running on the pitch. Soriano caught it while moving in (was never a threat to fall) and threw the ball to first. The ball shorthopped Lee and he dropped it a few feet away from the bag. He picked it up and dove towards the bag, getting there before Weeks did, though had Weeks not been jogging back to first before Lee dropped the ball, he would have been safe.

I think people who can't watch on TV now have a good idea what happened on that double play.
