I agree with being younger is a better sell though some teams may want a veteran presense but he did say, "can be just as good" and the way I read that is that he can be just as effective as a pitcher.

and Ronny Cedeno can be just as good as Albert Pujols

Ha! Well...look at their stats, compare and then look at the 2 pitchers and I'll bet you a 12 pack Eyre to Fuentes compares a heck of a lot more than that.

I'm just saying it is by far not the worst comparison ever.

I don't think it's the worst comparison ever, but it's a terrible comparison

Eyre's last two outtings (over a month ago) were really bad, but prior to that he had been really really good this year. Take away those two outtings, and he has a 0.87 ERA, .546 OPSA, and a WHIP just under one.

If we trade him we better get good return on him.

A two month rental of a LOOGY is not going to fetch much.

Or get someone to take his whole salary.

I haven't seen the numbers that back that up and Eyre has been a decent pitcher in the past, before his injuries.

Yeah, Fuentes is a lot better! Eyre certainly did cash in his contract year.

A strange trade, but what about Cedeno and Eyre for Hu and Kuo? The Cubs get the better player on both ends, who are also younger and perform the same role, but Colletti's the one who wants Cedeno and Eyre in the first place, so he must not think much of those two.

I thought about Hu and Kuo, but figured that'd be too much for us to get. Even from Colletti, I'm not sure we'd get both of them for Cedeno and Eyre.

I'd do the trade in less than a heartbeat if available, though.

The Sox remain in pursuit of Ohman’s former teammate with the Cubs, Scott Eyre. The Cubs have two other lefties — Neal Cotts and Sean Marshall — and have some depth from which to deal.

The article mentions them probably getting Grabow right before this...so i'm not sure if they want both or only one.

That never-ending Yankees-Red Sox intrigue has found its way to Scott Eyre. Both clubs are in on the Cubs left-hander, who is expected to be moved for a very modest return. But both teams also have him as a back-burner option as they search for more impactful bullpen help.

Wait, ESPN making up Yanks/Red Sox drama???? Insanity!

Please get rid of this bum.

Just DFA Eyre. He's in the last 2 months of his contract. So I think it is going to hurt the Cubs. If you can't get outs in a blowout, then you suck. You're Milwaukee Brewer bullpen bad.

Orrrrrrrrrrr you're a guy who has done very well this year but hasn't been used since coming off the DL due to his bullpen-[expletive] manager and just might be more than a tad rusty.

He got tagged in his last outing(s) before going on the DL and gets tagged in his first since coming off and his first appearance in over a month. Other than that, he's been fairly decent. I'd give him a few more chances.

Fairly decent is a huge understatement. Prior to those two games before he went to the DL, he was having a great great year.

I'd agree with you except if Lou isn't gonna use him, there's no point keeping him on the roster. Doesn't matter how good he is. He's an empty arm and that just means the other arms need to be used more often.
