i'd certainly like to see them release Booker at this point. the way the team is currently constructed, he doesn't really serve much purpose. it's time to see what Bradley can do (if he stays healthy).

so i haven't followed camp as closely as most of you probably have but is there much talk of using Olsen in the slot? with the lack of WR's it would make sense, assuming Clark's injury isn't serious.

I don't know how much talk there has been, but the Bears do use their TE in the slot on occasion.

just wondering if we'll see more of it. seems like an obvious use of resources, particularly if he's (supposedly) a poor blocker.

Bradley will the one released, not Booker. Hell, release them both and play Hass for that matter.

Usually keep 6 WRs right?

Davis, Hester, Lloyd, Bennett are the locks. I'm assuming Hass is the 5th if Booker or Bradley could lose out on a spot.

They're keeping 4 RB's probably though. The reports are that there will be 5 WR's, and that either Booker or Bradley will get that spot. I haven't even heard Hass in the discussion. I don't know why they'd keep Booker over Bradley if they think Bradley is healthy...why not see what you have with him?

Which RB gets the axe? Have you heard anything on that? I've heard something pretty scary, but it was just speculation.

Speculation is they'll keep all 4. Forte, AP, Jones and Wolfe. AP plays special teams too, so they can justify it that way.

Plus, they are inexplicably holding a roster spot for Williams, which means they need an extra spot for a lineman. The best case scenario is he will miss half a season. Why not just IR him and have him concentrate on being ready for 2009?

Because they're so scared of the O-line that they have, that the figure a Chris Williams just back from surgery is better than their other options?

FWIW, I agree with you...I'm just trying to come up with reasoning.

I'm guessing this changes if they find a decent waiver wire pickup.

Call me crazy, but I'm looking forward to watching the game tonight. I don't expect to enjoy it, but I really like watching football.

I'm looking forward to watching the starters. I'm done when the backups come in though.

I'll be there. I'm in town for Cub games anyway. I'm not expecting much either, but the way things are looking this might be only chance to go to soldier field this year so I figure what the heck.

I was just saying at work today, that it's not so much Hester as it is the Bears special teams schemes. Backups are dominating on returns. Orton made a bad throw to Olsen on a big mismatch.

Bad, bad, bad.

They can't stop the run, pass, and have no pass rush. Other than that, the defense isn't that bad.

Giving up 20 points thru 20 minutes of FB against this 49'ers is awful.

Is it as bad as the stats look?

71 rush yards, 137 pass yards and 20 pts against the D with a good amount of time left in the first half.

Offense has 92 pass yards (2 TD passes for Orton!) and 33 rush yards. How was the big pass play to Bradley?

I will give credit to this offense line tonight, they've played well. I would like to see SF blitz more.

Beekman has played very well.

Niiiice.

O-line looking shockingly effective tonight. I'd love to see Rex working with that kind of time and protection, though Orton looking rather solid.

Granted, this is the 49's, which makes the Bears' defense's ugly play thus far all the more embarassing.

Garret Wulf (Wolf?) is tiny.
