Well the BTN stream is a little better than it was early in the year, but still it sucks.

Don't worry though, the actual channel is showing Michigan vs. Notre Dame.

Women.

have you checked the BTN alternates?

They only use those for football games. I can't remember why, but it's some dumbass reason.

And I spoke too soon, this isn't really any better.

I'm not having any problems. It just sucks they can't have the score and clock current.

and I too spoke too soon, it has gotten really choppy now.

UMaine looked like they were a 4A high school team and played like a bad 4A high school team. No surprise OU beat them by like 30. I think Blake Griffin scored all of his points tonight on one-handed dunks.

DePaul loses to Morgan State. Yeah, a state that's not even a state. Awesome. Wainwright now with losses to perennial powers North Carolina A&T and Morgan State in consecutive years...and a 27 point loss to Northwestern.

If they don't fire this piece of [expletive], they should be banned from the Big East and Division 1 basketball in general.

I hope he can't sleep tonight, faxes in his resignation, gets on a plane to the Bahamas, and is never seen again. What a piece of garbage.

Iowa had a closed scrimmage with DePaul right before the season. Iowa is improved from last year but will probably win about 17 games and finish in the bottom half of the Big Ten.

The only word that leaked out from that scrimmage was that DePaul was really, really bad. The coaches were a little upset and thought it was a waste because they were a mess and couldn't run anything.

At the time I figured it was just hyperbole. I don't think that's the case anymore.

Tisdale could probably score 50 if they kept going to him.

yeah, he's awesome against guys half as tall as he is, always has been.

By the way people have been talking about him I thought he would be a very good player. I looked tonight he's averaging 8 pts, 4 rebounds and only shooting 44%. Not very impressive for a guy that size. He has loads of potential but he's not that good yet.

Who's been talking him up? I've been harassing Sulley about him for the most part. He's maybe our 5th or 6th best player.

I was going off of how there have been a hundred posts about the guy in this thread. I didn't really read them just skimming through saw his name everywhere. Looking back a lot of them were negative posts about him. I think I got the wrong idea during the preseason when people were talking about how good he could be. My bad. I'll go do hood rat stuff with my friend now.

Ya, DePaul is a TERRIBLE team to scrimmage with if the purpose is getting better playing against actual sets. They don't run offense. Seriously. They pass to a few guys around the perimeter and then someone jacks up a shot off the dribble with less than 10 seconds on the shot clock. The can win a few games with athleticism, but they literally have no concept of running an offense. No screens, no set plays, no interior passing, its like watching YMCA ball, except the 40 year old fat guys at the Y can actually make a shot once in a while.

the highlight package of OU/Griffin vs. Maine is re-DUNK-ulous

That's because the game was just one-handed dunks. It was getting old toward the end.

I know it's been discussed a ton on here, but here's an article about the non-punishment Indiana got. A few interesting things I hadn't heard before about the decision making process by the NCAA.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=dw-indiana120908&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

You notice he never goes to point out what schools like St. Augustine or Texas Southern did. Basically they were paying some players and using ineligible people in competition. One of the schools was arranging for fake grades to be given to athletes while the other one covered up some of the evidence. Their crimes were absolutely more intentional and on an order of magnitude quite a bit above what IU did.

BTW, even though St. Augustine did all that, they didn't receive a punishment that was much harsher than IU's. They had to vacate wins when they used ineligible players (of course) and they had reductions in scholarships in the sports where they were cheating along with their probation.

He makes good points with the destruction of the team, although IU could argue that they could have kept Sampson and had a very good team this year. Most of those dismissals for team rules wouldn't have happened if Sampson had still been the coach. Usually the NCAA has to give incentive for the school to clean out those type of students from a particular program, but in this case IU had already dismissed all of them.

And BTW-IU did not hire a coach that had committed major violations. They were classified as minor violations, and would have been again except he violated the terms of his sanctions. The refusal to follow sanctions became the major violation.

There is some inequality in college football/basketball between big schools and small schools (things like the USC situation are a great example of something that would have already not been tolerated at smaller schools). I agree somewhat with his overall point (and he even acknowledges that IU didn't necessarily deserve more sanctions). It's just the way he wrote it that doesn't hold up to scrutiny, which is ironic because that's exactly what he accuses the committee of.

Regarding those dismissals, how many of them were flat out IU kicking kids out?

Crawford chose to transfer. Holman chose to transfer. I believe McGee chose to transfer.

Were Ellis, Bassett, and Thomas really great bets to be eligible this year?

Giving Indiana credit for this is similar to giving them credit for punishing themselves one scholarship that they weren't going to give out anyway(cause the recruit that had it dealt crack) and withholding Sampson's 500,000 bonus(which benefitted the university, not having to pay 500,000)

I read the article when it first came out, so I don't remember, but the biggest crime about the IU situation(not saying it's unique to them) is that they are able to take APR scholarship hits in advance, which is absurd. Those scholarships weren't getting filled unless Crean was a moron, and craved more mediocre white guys. To call that an APR punishment is a mockery.
