It figures that Northwestern finally gets a team good enough to get into the tourney and they suffer from horrible luck that will likely keep them out. I wouldn't be shocked if they made a decent run in the Tourney and at least get themselves in the discussion.

Just think, if Northwestern holds on at home against Purdue and Illinois, they're 10-7 in conference and likely in the tournament.

purdue has scored 3 points since i got out of my car like 35 minutes ago.

the big ten doesn't stand a chance in the tournament. purdue looks terrible on a fairly regular basis... illinois held to 33 at home... purdue dominates michigan state by 19... really... i don't think anyone in the big ten would be in the top 3-4 in the acc or big east...

This is utter [expletive]. Look at what these teams did in their nonconference.

and you're an incredible big ten homer...

Don't forget on the road against Iowa. They were winning in the last minute.

miami is losing at georgia tech and bc is losing at nc st... that'd hurt both teams' bubble chances. bc may have a little more margin for error but both teams are definitely in danger of missing the tourney.

Though we played like crap that game. Both teams did.

The blown 2nd half double digit leads @ Butler and @ Penn State were bigger "should haves" than the Iowa game.

True. I was more indicating that it was a should have because Iowa isn't good (and they were especially struggling when they played NW) and they had the lead in the last minute.

A lot of sucky losses this year for them. I hope they can make a run in the BTT(unless they play Iowa) they are an NCAA tournament caliber team, they've just had bad luck and probably won't make it.

Yep, explains why I have 3 Big Ten teams as locks for the tourney.

Big 10 nonconference wins of note:

Oklahoma St. by 15 (N), @ Texas, KU by 13, Missouri by 16 (N), BC (N), Davidson by 18, Louisville (N), @ VA Tech, @ Miami, Butler, UCLA (N), Duke, FSU by 14

Losses of note:

UNC by 35, Maryland by 18 (N) Oklahoma by 5 (N), Duke by 16, Rhode Island (N), Temple, UConn by 19 (N), Texas, WV by 28, Duke by 15 (N), @ Maryland, @ Stanford

All 4 of those teams would probably win the Big Ten.

If you don't think UNC, Duke, UConn, Pitt, or Louisville would all win the Big Ten you're delusional. The only sport the Big Ten has a consistent shot at winning the national championship in is wrestling... ACC and Big East consistently have a shot to win in basketball... SEC and Big 12 consistently have a shot to win in football... the Big Ten has fallen by the wayside in the last 5 years in the major sports...

Ball State blows their chance to win the MAC West, losing to WMU 84-82 in OT. They were up 6 with a minute left in regulation and gagged it.

They can still win the MAC West by beating EMU at home on Sunday. That would give them the division title with an 8-8 MAC record.

OK I have to do a TV daily update on the sports headlines for the day tonight and need to say who holds the tiebreaker between Western Michigan and Ball State as they have each beaten each other once. This is the what the MAC has ...

Anyone care to weigh in on what the F they mean because it is not explained well enough. Andy if you remember what it is from covering them last year then chime in. I'm assuming it means starting at the top ranked team you go down and look at the tied teams record versus that team until one has a better record versus them. However if that is what it means then where do you start? With the third place team in the West or the the overall best team in the MAC which would be the East this year?

And No. 3 is just down right shameful. What the heck does that mean. "Sport specific component (if applicable)," is all that No. 3 says.

I'm pretty sure record vs the best team across all divisions, so Ball State would have it via their win vs Buffalo. I can't imagine the MAC could make it any less clear though. If you use the women's tiebreakers WMU would be ahead.

I didn't think Miami losing @GT would be topped tonight, but Kentucky losing at home vs Georgia just did it.

Edit: Florida lost to Miss State as well, and LSU lost to Vandy. Not a good night for the SEC.

It is Ball State. The TV guys tonight said that either a BSU win or a WMU loss would clinch the title for us this weekend, and we are tied now, so that means we have the tiebreaker.

nope - that's why I said the only sport... later I said they had fallen behind in the 'major' sports, which wrestling isn't one of... because if it were... they wouldn't have fallen by the wayside in major sports...
