I don't know how this game is going to play out, but it's amazing how winded teams get when playing Mizzou.

It's the style of play.

Yep the style of play us 1900s Big Ten teams can't keep up with. We just play 4 corners offense every time down and would get throttled by a team like Mizzou.

What's even stranger is that OU beat Mizzou by like 15 in Norman last year with a worse team.

This game is exactly why, no matter what happens, this KU team isn't ready to go far in the tourney. An off night for Collins, were in deep water. An off night by Collins AND Aldrich, we have no chance.

Wow, good job, no one even mentioned the Big Ten.

Plus, no one is saying Mizzou isn't beatable, they definitely are and it's not that awful to do (as Illinois, kansas and Nebraska showed this year)

Edit: Unless that was from a previous discussion with CubInOK that I missed. Then I apologize.

It was addressed to Smack. I figured I'd take heat for that. Damn impressive win tonight for you guys. You're really good, and as Sulley said, KEEP WINNING

Yeah, but the latter has happened, what, once this year?

Mizzou was way worse last year too.

That's definitely a "Ha Ha We beat Mizzou!!!" type of post. Maybe it should have been written in green.

I'm going to try and use my SID powers to convince the NCAA to make every tourney game take place at Mizzou Arena.

I was just about to post the same thing. I wouldn't say they're not ready to go far, just that they're very vulnerable because of Collins. On the flipside, they could make a final four run if he stays hot. They've gotta get some luck with the draw to avoid a lock down perimeter defender.

Marquette's gonna be a really interesting case for the selection committee. 0-3 without James, albeit against the 3 best teams in the conference. If they don't get anywhere in the conference tourney, they could drop like a rock.

And the College Gamenight guy just asked if all 10 Big Ten teams could get in. Huge slam on Indiana out of nowhere.

Could this day have gone much better for NU??

Kentucky, Florida, Va Tech, BC, and Miami all lose.

I'm really hoping they make it. That would easily be one of the biggest stories in college basketball this year.

Haha, Jimmy Dykes talks about how the low score is going to hurt the perception of the Big Ten, and gonna cost them.

They then ask him in or out and he puts Wisconsin and Minnesota in.

I wonder when the last time both Northwestern AND Penn State were in the tourney the same year

Northwestern has never been in the tourney, the only major conference team that can say that.

Honestly, I have NW above Kentucky and Florida right now.

Winner of South Carolina vs. Tennessee probably gets in.

I know the committee members aren't allowed to be in the room when talking about their conference/team, but I wonder how Mike Slive(SEC commissioner) being the head of the committee is going to affect things. People speculated that the Colonial commish being the head back in '06 was a big reason behind them getting 3 teams in. It doesn't even have to be a conscious decision, but when you spend so much time in a room with the guy, you start to like him and give his teams some subconscious help since he can't be there to fight for them.

It's so annoying how the Big Ten gets bashed unreasonably for the slow pace they play.

Hell, Tom Brennan bashed the Big Ten 3 days ago by saying only 3 teams deserved to be in, and that teams like Maryland, Miami, and Wisconsin deserved to be in there over the rest of the Big Ten.

One more thing I noticed while looking at team information in putting together my locks...Michigan State is a LOT closer to a 1 seed than many of the ESPN pundits would care to admit, especially with Oklahoma losing tonight. UConn, UNC, Pitt, Louisville, Duke, MSU, Memphis is likely the group that has a shot at 1 seeds at this point, and I would put MSU currently 4th or 5th in the group, neck and neck with Louisville.

purdue has scored 3 points since i got out of my car like 35 minutes ago.

the big ten doesn't stand a chance in the tournament. purdue looks terrible on a fairly regular basis... illinois held to 33 at home... purdue dominates michigan state by 19... really... i don't think anyone in the big ten would be in the top 3-4 in the acc or big east...

except the Big 10 actually plays defense. Get Duke or North Carolina away from the ACC refs and see how far their flopping gets them

Duke and North Carolina did pretty well on the road in the Big 10-ACC Challenge games on the road.

Yeah, the low scores have a lot more to do with team pace than defense. Though, there are a few really good defenses in the Big Ten (Purdue, Illinois, MSU).

UNC's clearly better than anyone in the Big Ten. They ran MSU off the floor and embarrassed them. MSU was without Suton, though obviously that isn't a 35 point difference. Regardless, a rematch certainly wouldn't be nearly the embarrassment. MSU played like ass and UNC played one of the best games I've seen them play.

As bukie said, it's a pace thing. Pretty much every Big Ten coach is content to only take shots with single digits on the shot clock, and since their opponents in conference want to do the same thing, you get the low scoring slug it out games. When they play teams who pick up the pace, they score more points, and allow more points. It's not rocket science.

More possessions = more points.

Less posesssions = less points.

OU's case for a #1 seed rests entirely on how the committee treats the losses @Texas and to KU without Blake Griffin. But on your list I like MSU over both Louisville and Memphis. I'd probably favor MSU resume more than UConn's too.
