oh no, i thought we were done with ball state talk.

They're at least as likely to make the tournament as the other team I talk about, so why not?

Oh my God, no they don't. Ball St. has like a 1% chance of making the tourney. The MAC West is terrible.

Well, the MAC is definitely a one-bid league this year, so maybe he just thinks there's just as much chance Ball State wins the MAC tourney as the 8th best team as ND has winning the Big East tourney as the 9th best team.

But Notre Dame still has a decent chance at an at-large.

Mark Gottfried out at Bama.

It's not a loss, I have faith in CNS

:read: :club: (SSR you're better than a weak arse juvenile taunt)

This is the best day to be an Alabama fan since Bama hire Nick Saban.

With that said, I'm not going to be a DBag about the football team, plain and simple. But watch, Alabama is going to signed some Mike Davis goof and make this program even more non existent.

Davis is probably gonna be forced out by UAB, Alabama won't pick him up a crappier school's scraps. They're not Auburn.

At this point I know there are some Bama fans that want to see Bama to go after Tubby Smith and Mark Few, but I am NOT one of them. I think Mal Moore (Alabama AD) will go cheap, and it wouldn't surprise me if he targets a guy like Anthony Grant. Not that I think Bama will land him, just that's an early candidate.

I don't think Anthony Grant comes cheap. He'd be a nice hire though.

I'm glad Missouri isn't ranked because then I'd be 100% certain we'd lose at Kansas State Wednesday. Since we're not, I'm only 80% certain we're going to lose.

I don't understand the fear of losing to KSU. They got taken to OT by Colorado, who is probably the worst BCS conference team this year.

Tubby Smith would be fine for Bama, he's good enough to get them competitive which is a definite improvement from they are now, but he's not good enough to get them to elite where they'll likely never be for an extended period given how it'll always be a far second to football.

You have to understand Andy. He's always down on his teams. If they are playing bad he thinks they will never win again. If they are winning he thinks they are about to go on a losing streak.

Ball State is 4-1 in the MAC currently tied for the best record in conference and they already beat one of the other 4-1 teams on the road. Not sure where you get the 8th best team in the MAC from.

As statistical measures go, they are worse than the entire MAC East and Western Michigan. They have played better since conference play started, yes, but overall they're the 8th best team.

EDIT: And if by "on the road", you mean "at home by 6", then what you said is true. Yes, they're better than the rest of the MAC West. The MAC West is terrible.

tubby smith at alabama will never happen. i don't think tubby is ever coming back to the sec, he's happy and safe right where he is. quite frankly, i can't see him ever coaching south of mason-dixon again unless he's desperate.

he's not leaving a great job in minny for a program like alabama, it doesn't make sense at all.

as for mark few, dream on.

We lost to Nebraska. We'll probably lose at Ames too. It's just the fear that comes with being a Mizzou fan.

Agreed on both. I think Few's heading to Arizona after this season, and if he doesn't, I'd be surprised if he ever leaves.

If you're interested, you can hop over to the Recruiting thread for the SEC wars between assistant head coaches at UT and Bama.

now that would make sense, as arizona has an actual basketball tradition and still a little prestige left.

Jeff Capel will be on the short list of that opening, too.

The could go for another ex-Iowa coach and hire Alford...I heard he's available.

I wonder how many more games in a row we need to lose before it's obvious we won't get an at-large bid. We're not beating Pitt at Pitt on Saturday so that'll make ND 3-6 in the Big East.

Luke goes for 29 and 17. Everyone else on the team shoots a combined 12/44.

Tubby did mention recently he was interested in talking to Alabama, but that was about as far as I could ever see it going. Bama will never pony up the money needed to land a "name" coach like Smith, same goes with Few. Speaking of Few, never believe Alabama would actually contact him. If you read my post, I am very pessimistic about Alabama chances at landing a quality coach, as I semi-jokingly suggest that Mike Davis will prolly be the "best" caliber coach they land.

Alabama basketball is 180 degrees from Alabama football. So I don't expect anything from Alabama's coaching search, as I expect a no-name, cheap coach to be the next HC at Alabama.

so my theory holds for another game

I really don't believe that Tubby Smith said in the middle of a successful season that he was interested in Alabama.

Notre Dame's RPI is brutal right now. They are in trouble right now. They can't afford another St. John's-esque loss.

Rutgers, USF, and St. John's at home should be auto wins.

UConn and Pitt on the road should be auto losses.

That puts them at 15-9. They should win at Cincy and Providence, neither are really any good. That's 17-9.

Then you've got at UCLA, Louisville at home, Nova at home, and at West Virginia. For ease, I'd put em at 50-50 for those. Split those, they're at 19-11 and need 2 Big East tourney wins. Go 1-3, and I'm not sure they can make it as an at-large. That St. John's loss is going to kill them, and that OSU loss may not look too good when it's all said and done unless Lighty can come back earlier than expected.

I think Kyle McAlarney just missed another 3-pointer.

link? that doesn't make sense to me, either.

but i'm just curious, what kind of established "name" coaches do you think alabama has a shot with?
