No, I wanted nothing to do with Pitino for several years. '04 was the only great class, the rest were not up to UK standards or the same standards that Pitino set. I'm not expecting the 96' Cats (by far the most talented team in college history) but I expect better than what they under Smith and so far under Gillespie.

Smith ain't good enough for UK and Gillespie still has to prove that he is and I liked the hire at the time.

You have got to be kidding.

Not at all.

9 players on that squad played in the NBA.

6 1st rounders.

Now dispute it.

You take a team with players drafted at Nos. 6, 6, 13, 16, 19, 29 and 52; I'll take a team that had players drafted Nos. 1, 2, 3, 11, 14, and 18. Oh, did I mention that the No. 1 pick was someone named Lew Alcindor? I only needed to look up one team to dispute it.

I must also wonder how 1996 Kentucky, being the most talented ever, lost two games and failed to win the SEC Tournament.

That was kind of cruel not letting Raisin make this post.

I felt dirty making it.

You don't need to lie.

Cause they lost to 2 final four teams that they ended up beating with Miss. St. and UMASS . In fact, that 96 team has the highest sagarin rating dating back to the UCLA days.

The former was a predictable -- and accurate -- response to my personal jab mainly directed at the hagiography of Pitino. The latter is completely irrelevant in an argument for most talented team.

Or perhaps Indiana. Either way I can't see drunken Billy G winning a national title at UK

Stay out of the streets of Lexington if that day ever comes.

Yeah I wouldn't want to have the misfortune of stepping out infront of BG's car

Who is the 9th pro?

I got

Mohammed with a career 15.3 per

Walker with a career 16.0 per

Sheppard 18 games

Mercer career 12.5 per

Anderson career 15.3 per

Pope career 6.4 per

Delk career 13.7 per

Turner 3 games

That's eight and Sheppard and Turner are cups of coffee at the best.

I understand UK fans frustrations with Tubby given he only made 1 FF in 9 years as coach, however the man put UK in the Sweet Sixteen six times, the Elite Eight four times, and won the SEC and SEC tournament five times each, made the NCAA tournament every year, and never lost in the first round.

Any fanbase that complains about that kind of success is simply delusional. Gone are the days when Rupp and Sutton could go out a buy whatever player they wanted and put them in a cushy athletes dorm that was more like a Hilton. I'm curious what exactly do UK fans expect both in recruiting and performance, because I'm almost positive that BG isn't the man to bring you there.

UK isn't KU.

I expect more than what you listed in this past decade, there should be no reason why UK is not a legit national contender.

Looking at some of the mediocre programs (GT, Ohio St. Illinois, UF 3 times, etc) that have been to the title game is terribly frustrating.

Well, UCLA is the lesser of two evils for me, for what that's worth.

Yeah 10.1 per. I still like UCLA cause of the higher end pros. Plus any college team with MJ, Big Game, Sleepy, and the Jet is going to be pretty hard to beat in terms of pure talent.

Those are not mediocre programs. Well maybe GT is. But, the other ones are not mediocre. Not elite, although tOSU could make that argument, but not mediocre either.

They're good but not elite, I'd agree with that and some of them are better than what UK has right not (well of those 3 U of I is better right now and close with UF). Despite the last 10 years, I still view UK as an elite program, probably 2nd to UCLA. Of course, UNC and Duke have definitely gained ground to where I once held them given how well they have done over the past decade compared to UK.

UCLA

UK

UNC

IU

Duke

KU

Yeah sorry about the mix up there. I fixed it. Anyways honest question because I don't know, how are the practice facilities at UK? And other than tradition what do you see as the draw that will bring highly talented recruits on a national level to UK?

Thought it was over when Purdue got down by 5 but big threes late brought us back. It was a very much needed win. One game out of first. If we can take care of the definite should wins and get back at Illinois on the road we will be 10-2 heading into a home game against MSU.

Good luck winning at Illinois.......that is unless we go into the "I'm pretty sure we're going to win but let's see how close we can make it" offense at the end of the game with a lead. UI almost gave the game against Wisky back because of it.

Wow after beating us in overtime you seem a little confident? Purdue has won there last 3 away games....Any who I'll be there to cheer on my Boilermakers and see another big win on the road...Hopefully haha

i think it was your objective journalist friend who was the one being a little overconfident. illinois at c-u is likely to be a much tougher game tham msu at purdue, so i have no idea why he chose to leap over the illini.

Because MSU is in first so if Purdue gets that game without losing that can take first place. Inferiority complex or just over reaction?

purdue is the team that hasn't been to a final four in forever, why on earth would anyone feel inferior to a purdue fan? but, that's some hard-hitting investigative journalism, right there.

michigan is getting spanked by ohio st. they're shooting 20% from the field and 0-11 from downtown. they're running into good defenses now and can't get those open looks they were getting earlier in the year.
