Now we have to get a win in Michigan.

I don't know about have to, as a split was about as well as could be expected in the first week, but the only way Illinois gets some kind of national respect is if they win Sunday.

Time to get greedy. This team could be special, they are playing really well.

Nice job Boilers. :clapping:

Thank you. If you go to Mackey you can probably say that to them in person because they are likely shooting free throws right now.

yeah, because the refs are still calling fouls on the illini.

The game was called fairly.

Eh, there were some questionable calls both ways. The only really bad call was the foul at the end of regulation on Davis. Typical B10 game other than that.

i was just making a comment on how many more free throws purdue shot than the illini. the fouls looked even at the end because of the 7 fouls purdue had in the ot period.

plus, purdue didn't lose the game, they were beaten.

OU's problems were exposed tonight. They played bad defense all around. OU was 11-22 from the line tonight. A lot of players took bad shots, especially early on. This was just all around ugly for OU.

On another note, there were a total of 55 fouls called in this game tonight, 30 by Arkansas, 25 by OU. It was really slow and had a lot of questionable calls that favored each team. Of course, the OU-Arkansas game was officiated by Ed Hightower. I feel as though refs should kinda let the players play and not call every single foul. I'm not blaming the loss on the officiating though. OU didn't play well tonight.

Wow, they did it. They freaking did it. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

that was some impressive shooting. it was just to big of a hole to dig ourselves out of. I was really impressed with how your young guys kept pouring it on in the first half, and then again in the second when you pushed it up to 25.

Holy crap, it turns out this team is good enough to compete at a high level. After that Missouri State loss, I was thinking they wouldn't be there this year, but it turns out that they're already a completely different team. Hey rivals.com! Do you see my boy Washington? Think he can get in your top 25 now?!

If things continue like they're going right now, 5-10 not withstanding, the Hogs are only going to get 1 year of Courtney Fortson.

Like I said, they can shoot with anybody. Size is an issue with this team, because outside of Washington and Sanchez, they don't have any high-minute big men. But tonight that was enough. Fortson didn't even shoot well, but he still nearly put up a triple double.

I didn't think there was any chance the Hogs could be this good this year after Patrick Beverley "left" the team.

I was more impressed with how they responded when their lead dwindled to 4.

I still don't understand Pearl turning him down. Real head scratcher.

Just because one team shoots 10-15 more free throws doesn't mean the reffing was bad. Watch the game with open eyes and you will see the game was reffed well. Purdue shot more free throws because they had their guards driving a lot and JaJuan was getting great position. Ilinois was getting open jump shots from 10-15 feet out all game. Those are great scoring opportunities but you won't get a lot of free throws with jump shots.

Off topic, but did you see my question at the end of the Bowl Discussion thread? I need some Boilermaker opinions.

Pearl turned down who? Fortson? Weird.

So, the Hogs play Texas next Tuesday. I'm not worried about North Texas, though the team should go at them seriously. I haven't seen them play. What should i expect?

EDIT: I didn't realize Michael Washington was such a highly thought of recruit. He was Rivals's #35 prospect in 2006, which really sticks out when you consider that 10 of the guys ahead of him are already in the NBA. He's another guy I wouldn't expect to keep next year if he keeps playing at his current level.

the reason purdue only shot 13 more FT's than illinois is because illinois upped their total from 6 shot FT's to 14 in the final minute of the OT period.

See the game Purdue played against Oklahoma...We shot like 7 free throws all game and they shot over 30....But Good game only questionable call in my book, but maybe I couldn't see it well from the angle they showd...What happened on the play where it went out of bounce and Johnson threw the ball off of McCamey's leg? Did it hit the line first? Why'd the ref make the call so quickly it looked like it bounced off his leg?.....Regardless though good game and impressive win by you guys

you should take your own advice, your one of the biggest homers here. purdue would get the ball on the block and get the foul every time, regardless of if they were touched or not. tisdale gets pushed and his hand gets tangled up in someone's baggy jersey and he gets called for a foul for grabbing. the free throws really speak for themselves.

i think they just called another foul on tisdale, really.

it's awesome though, if someone disagrees with you, that's generally your only response. just because no one agrees with you doesn't mean they aren't "looking at it with open eyes".

they showed the replay and it was the correct call, the announcers gushed about the call for like 5 minutes.

It sure looked like it should have been Purdue's ball on that play. Also, the non-call on the over-and-back was terrible. I wasn't pleased with the officiating, but it was bad both ways. I do think they made a good call on Hummel's shot in the second half, as it looked like his toe was on the three-point line. The Boilers killed themselves with their shooting, especially from the free throw line.

As a side note, Marcus Green has looked completely lost the past two games. Purdue needs him to get his head on straight, especially if Kramer is going to be out for awhile. Also, while I appreciate Bobby Riddell's contribution against Valpo, he has no business starting a conference game.
