Speaking of old stuff...

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- A rare 148-year-old baseball card discovered at a rural Maine yard sale has been auctioned for $92,000.

The card depicting the Brooklyn Atlantics amateur baseball club was sold by Saco River Auction Co. in Biddeford on Wednesday night, and it drew plenty of interest.

Winning bidder Jason LeBlanc of Newburyport, Mass., said he bought the card as an investment for his young son.

Bidding started at $10,000 and quickly rose to the final $92,000, which included an 18 percent premium.

A Maine man who doesn't want to be publicly identified found the card inside an old photo album he bought while antique picking in the small town of Baileyville on the Canadian border. The man bought the photo album, old Coca-Cola bottles and a couple of oak chairs together in a single purchase for less than $100, Thibodeau said.

The card isn't the same as a modern-day baseball card, which became common in the 1880s. Rather, it's an original photograph from 1865 mounted on a card, showing nine players and a manager.

The Library of Congress said last month it was aware of only two copies of the photo. The other is in the institution's collection.

Yea, I sort of wish they'd go back to the blue marquee with the renovations...but that would piss too many people off even though that's how it originally was.

Kind of cool... in the pics that JR posted, you can see them taking down this sign.

Wait... there weren't bleachers on the rooftops??? WTH???

Seriously, I would love it if they would remodel to something similar to what the park originally looked like. Once I saw pictures of the park as it was, I always thought it was a better, cleaner look.

I totally agree. I like the blue marquee much better.

Every park was "cleaner" in 1930 because they were tiny little things. You have to maximize your usage of the space to generate revenue and that is going to require a bit of an unclean layout. This isn't a museum.

I think the blue-on-blue look is way too boring. Definitely prefer the contrast of the red sign.

oh, i'm definitely not down with the "on blue" part. just the blue marquee with the walls white as they are now.

The wall behind it wouldn't have to be blue, you could change it back and still create contrast. I like the blue marquee so much better that the red one. Blue is the predominant Cubs color, and I think having the marquee be blue would only be natural.

Plus I just prefer blue to red in general.
