The Marlins will designate Jacque Jones for assignment and call up Robert Andino, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Unfortunately for Jones, his arrival in Florida coincided with the best stretch of Cody Ross' career. He was given just 37 at-bats and hit .104 with no extra-base hits and an 8/6 K/BB ratio. The Sun-Sentinel's Mike Berardino takes this to mean that Cameron Maybin will be up at some point during the next couple of weeks. However, there's nothing to suggest that Maybin would have any luck hitting for average in the majors and there's absolutely no reason for the Marlins to bring up another outfielder until Ross cools off.

People seem to forget Jones' second half surge plus hes damn good in the field. Hopefully Soriano will be back by the second half, but just in case. Jones would be a better option than Murton, plus we dont have to give anything up because WE'RE ALREADY PAYING HIM.

I'd like to see Hoffpauir out there.

I would to, but I have this feeling that Lous going to do something ridiclous like have DeRosa in left and platoon Cedeno and Fontenot.

Is there a reason why? Neither is going to hit for much power (Jones hasn't shown any power since 2006), although Murton's second-half splits the past couple years indicate he'd probably provide more power than Jones. On top of that, Murton has shown the ability to at least get on base, something that Jones has never done well.

IMO, Lou wasn't too keen on the guy so I wouldn't worry about him going to Chicago. I also liked the fact that Lou said that the Cubs have some deserving young guys ready to come up.

Dare I say it.............................

Don't.

We are still paying the guy.

So if we sign him, we don't have to pay anything extra? The money "paid" to him for this stint will just come out of whatever it is we're already paying him?

Hmmm............

He is a good guy, but don't even think about it (and let's hope Hendry doesn't either). A HoffMurt platoon would outperform JJ in all aspects of the game.

You all realize that the reason we're still paying him when he's not on our team is he was so bad that no one would take him if we didn't pay his salary, right? He hasn't done anything in the time since we last got rid of him to warrant a roster spot.

I think that a great fit for Jones would be the White Sox. They've been without a legitamate center fielder since they foolishly traded Aaron Rowand for mindless home run machine Jim Thome, and Brian Anderson has been nowhere near consistant. Plus Jacque was a Sox Killer in his days as a Twin.

Nick Swisher getting hit by a train was so sad. :(
