Loss and we use Marmol again

Terrible day. I should be happy that Maddux pitched well but, not like this...not like this

These are the types of games you're supposed to use Marmol. If Lou was smart Marmol (or Eyre) would've started the inning.

I'm not against using marmol here, i'm just disappointed every time he's used in general

Another thing....can't Marmol just get 2 games or more off at some point. Does he have to pitch in every big situation every game?

Edit: Looks like its already been discussed.

Billingsley can eat my Ballingsley.

SEE WHAT I DID THERE WITH WORDS AND STUFF.

Interesting use of the singular tense there :-k

milwaukee is only 6 games back? we're finished.

who goes in a firesale? if we eat half of soriano's contract, do you think someone will take him? i think it's time to get rid of lee also; see what hoffpauir can do at first base.

I think the best thing we got out of this game was a virtual off day for the bullpen. Marmol was the only one who pitched, and he only threw 8 pitches. That was something the bullpen sorely needed.

Some nights you're just not going to hit. I'm not really upset at all. The Padres pitchers, especially Maddux and Hoffman, were really good tonight (Bell was good as well, but I thought he was more hittable than Maddux and Hoffman were...the Cubs just didn't take advantage).

We could get some mighty fine prospects if we let the Yanks and Red Sox have a bigging war for Zambrano.

Geovanny batting 7th is a farce that I rather not acknowledge

Oh well, I have a bad feeling about tonight, I think the win streak ends here. Maddux, in a stadium he loves, in an environment non-conducive to offense, means we are going to be scraping for runs. However, thats not to say the stadium doesn't benefit the flyball tendencies of Lilly.

Still don't feel very confident.

right again

Now we have to worry about which teams gained ground on us.

Milwaukee is only 6 back..

I remember when we were in their position last year.

I remember telling everyone to look at the statistical projections that said we'd catch up.

Now the statistical projections say we run away with it.

I was actually beginning to miss all the negativity from our pessimists.

So what should we be for the next games thread? Are we just going back one step to Super Cubs or all the way to Cubs?

Pathetic Losing Bums.

Cardinals. So we could all pretend to be fans of a winning team for once.

I just came from the bar and seen the game..It seems Piniella is more concerned with saving the pen than caring about the win..Same crap yesterday but we got lucky leaving the starter in..Today we got what we deserved..Lilly was done after 7..We seriously wont last this way..

I've gotta blame this one on Len and Bob. I bet they didn't want to swap facial hair so they conspired to make the Cubs lose. There's really no other logical conclusion to draw about the loss.

Can't blame him for it. The pen needs rest. Winning 1 game isn't as important as giving your shot to win in the future. Of course, if he was more concerned about saving his pen than any single win, his pen usage would be a lot different....including going w/ Howry last night instead of Marmol, who need(ed/s) more than 1 day.
